My girlfriend and I stayed at this place in may, 2008. The room was not advertised,..no view of even some shrubs, - just a bare patch of muddy walkway. Then the avalanche of exorbitant charges,..which are not divulged unless you ask. We stayed two nights and got fed up, and went to a wonderful resort that was recommended by another couple there ...
We honeymooned at Tabacon in January 2008. It was my second trip to Tabacon. It is a very special place, comfortable rooms approximately 1/4 mile from the hot springs. The romantic bungalow dinner, for two, is over-the-top. The hot springs are the finest I have ever visited. I have been surprised by others 'negative' comments about the ...

We had no view of Arenal Volcano...though did not matter since it was almost always cloudy. Food & drink were pricey. Hot springs are incredible. I would go back.

will never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/08
There was no hot water in our room, the bartender would not make the drink my wife had requested as it was not what they called it(strawberry Daquiri with vodca)and to top it off they closed the hot spings 1 hour and 15 min. early. When I spoke to the supervisor on duty the next day about my experiances, he told me that things happen. No sorry no nothing!

Close this place down!

Just back from Tabacon with the need to vent. Arrival was a real let down. Room was small, over priced with a window looking over a haggered patch of turf. As to my inquisition that my Garden Room confirmation did not match their web site photo which showed a balcony with a hot tub we were told they no longer had any rooms with balconies or hot ...

Visit in June 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/07
Our visit was a little biased because we arrived during a downpour of rain. The springs were warm and nice, but it was confusing at night to find yourway around. There are lights but all the curved paths and dark foilage make it hard to find your way around. As we came after 7 pm it was a bit cheaper. Our buffet meal was all good food, a wide ...

Great Place to Stay in Arenal But Not If You Want to See Lava
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/07
My husband and I just returned from 4 nights at Tabacon. The resort was beautiful, the room impeccably clean with a beautiful volcano view. We did unfortunately arrive in the rainy season, so the volcano was clouded over during much of our stay. However, there were several times that the clouds cleared and the view from our room was spectacular. ...
If you are honeymooners who want to spend a romantic week in Costa Rica, I would highly recommend Tabacon Hot Springs Resort & Spa. However, if you are in Costa Rica for the adventures, rainforest, and volcano, you might just want to stay at the $50 a night budget hotel in town and check out the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort with a day pass.
I ...

Loved It!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/06
We just returned from a 7 night stay at Tabacon in the Junior Suite. We loved our room and loved the hotel. We had a beautiful view of the rainforest and the volcano...it was active every night, but we had 1 night that was too cloudy to see it. We awoke every morning to the sounds of the birds and howler monkeys....it was unbelieveable :) It ...
