Hard beds, scratchy sheets, dirty carpet, strange guests, stinky elevators, guests leaving their doors open all night, dated interiors, not worth the money they want per night.
First I think it is beyond ridiculous, that to have 2 beds in a 2 person room you must pay extra . Also the bed they did give was the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE bed ever. I would rather sleep at a motel 6 or super 8 over this place anyday. I dont think I slep one wink but yet just lying there I still ended up with the worst back pain ever.. I probably shoulda tried the floor it couldnt of been any worse then the bed...
We rented the Penthouse suite $368 for two day weekend. The upstairs shower ran either scalding hot, or ice cold water. Same with the downstairs shower. We had to get on our hands and knees in the tub just to rinse the shampoo out of our hair. As we checked out, the other guests in the lobby were complaining of the same problems. For that amount of ...

the hotel overall was good. All of the front desk staff was expectional! I would like to have more of a housekeeping service but it was not a big deal! I would stay at homestead again. One improvement would be to get new carpet, there was many stains on the carpet.

Great room and location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
After reading some of the other (negative) reviews about the Homestead I was a bit hesistant regarding what would we be getting, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised. We were given a large room that looked recently redone and well decorated with a king size bed, kitchen area stocked with cutlery and a fridge, sink, stove and microwave, very clean ...

Handy to downtown and south Austin Congress St.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/05
The kitchen facilities were very convenient. Would have been nice if there was an oven. A great location for exploring downtown Austin. Not far from the airport either(15-20 minutes). The longer you stay the better the nightly rate.

Poor service at Homestead Austin Downtown
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/05
The service of this hotel is poor. There was no daily cleaning, no cups, no shampoo. I don't know what the hotel rank is. But I do know the one star hotel in Virginia is better than it. The only feature of it is the cooking facility. But I wonder who likes to cook when he just visit Ausin for a few days.

The hotel was convenient to everything in Austin, while not breaking the budget. while not providing many frills, it did its core job of allowing for a comfortable night's sleep effectively...
