My family and I stayed at the Long House last month and stayed in a room that had a strong odor of creosote. We complained to the manager who said the owner was already aware of the problem. We later heard the owner tell the maintenance man to shut down the air vents to save some money! I guess saving a few bucks on utilities is more important that ...
I have stayed at the Long House numerous times in the past and enjoyed the friendly help from the manager and maintenance man, however; we just learned that the owner let the maintenance man go. This guy totally remodeled the Long House to make it what it is today. Without his help, I think we'll stay at another hotel during our next trip to Anchorage.
My husband and I have stayed here a few times over the past five years because it's a nice hotel. Recently they've been remodeling and redesigning the rooms, which is a huge plus in our books. Our room was one that had just been finished. Elegant room dividing curtains, silk flowers on our table, remodeled bathroom and new paint made a ...
I recently stayed at the Long House and was shown a room that the maintenance man had just finished remodeling. The room was very comfortable with a new paint design, trimmed in wood, floral arrangment on the table and a more modern looking bathroom. He did an awesome job. My only suggestions would be for him to do ALL the rooms like this. He gave ...

The Place to Stay!

The service was excellent from extremely friendly, helpful employees. When I called from the airport, the shuttle wasn't available. I was told just to take a cab they would pay for. It was very quick and easy. My room was ready and was clean, as was the bathroom. The continental breakfast was a perfect way to start my day, and I enjoyed ...
It started out bad when we tried to check in. Our room wasn't ready but the only clerk on duty said he would check on it for us. He promptly forgot about us and went about helping other people who were lined up at the desk. He was apparently the only person working there and as we found out later, that was pretty much the norm, only one person ...
We stayed for 5nights on "shoulder season". The staff were more than wonderful & provided lots of local info. Room was clean & comfortable; except the pillows. But that was easily remidied w/a trip to Wal-Mart. Breakfast consisted of pastry, fruit, juice, coffee, oatmeal~~ enough to get your day started. Besides, who wants to pass up a great breakfast at one of the nearby diners!! Will definitely stay there again!!

Very convienent to the airport. Easy access to our room, which was very large, clean and comfortable. TV was a bit small for such a large room (but we weren't in Anchorage to watch tv!!!) Convienent to downtown via major streets via auto (too far to walk) Our room had only a shower (no tub) but we prefer showers anyway. Nice breakfast in the ...

Comfortable, Close to Skiing & Airport
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/04
This hotel is close to Airport... but not TOO close (ie noise or no real city around) Room was decent to nice. Decent breakfast spread. Freezer for Fish & Game meat, though I wasn't there for fishing/hunting. I visited last March to ski. Mostly cross country, but got a day in Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. About an hour, or less from hotel. ...
