We found the staff attentive and helpful at all times, the breakfasts were adequate and all what is to be expected of 'continental style'.
The hotel can seem dark in the corridors but the rooms were clean and comfy. They were cleaned each day and the towels and the linen was changed every 3 days.
It can be daunting climbing all the stairs to access the breakfast room but there is a door on the ground floor available to use.

We think the comments made previously in connection with this Hotel is totally unjustified and unfair. We found the comfort, cleaniness, and general upkeep to be of a good standard. Disgusting hotel, in dire need of redecoration. The room was dirty looking and smelled of stale cigarettes and dampness, the bed was tiny and the shower room awful. The worst hotel I have ever been in, would not recommend it to anyone. I actually did not stay there at all, altough way overpriced for what you get, I made other arrangements and preferred to lose my money than sleep in that hotel.

If you like the concrete egg boxes of Benidorm or Lloret de Mar then the Bristol is not for you. I have just spent a week there and found it to be a comfortable, well run hotel. The absolute biggest mistake of our entire vacation. This place is not only dirty and dated... the service was just plain rude. The hot water did not work in our room. The best we could from the manager was essentially "too bad". Way overpriced. For some unknown reason this place is recommended by Lonely Planet.... I am not sure why/ ...

1st room: have been in cleaner guest houses, cockraoch very thirsty (found trying to get in drink on bedside cabinet!), wardrobe stank of either old vomit or very smelly cheese!!
2nd room: cleaner and larger (moved into 3rd room by manager)
3rd room; yet another cockroach!! demanded to be moved to another hotel. This hotel needs a bloody good clean and the infestation problem sorting. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

We were there for one night in 1988. It was a fleabag with holes in the linens and marine showers in the dinky bathrooms. It pretty much matched up with Gibraltar in general.

The staff could not have been more helpful, the location is perfect. The decoration has seen better days but was always clean. Choose an exterior room.... we had a sea view. Fridge in the room, though old, was very useful. We usually stay in The Rock hotel but could not face the climb up!!!!! After reading the reviews we were pleasantly surprised to have a comfortable and relaxing stay for such a reasonable price.

I still remember this place as one of the better ones! Probably because we had a nice time and because the pool was the ideal spot to be for a little bit. It was generally close to all the placed we wanted it to be. I would definately stay here again...!
