This was the worst experience of my life, I loved being there in Yellowstone, but the nights wee horrible. The shower was short and cramped, the bed was puny, the rug was stained, the lights did not work and no one fixed them! It was all just and awful experience!
We stayed in the Western Cabin and were pleasantly accomodated. The room is "rustic" yet some recent upgrades in the room make it clean and a very pleasant and relaxing place. We checked in a bit late in the evening August 2006 and it was just beginning to rain. There was this incredible lighting show in the far sky and the temperature was beginning to drop. The desk staff at the Main Lodge was very helpful in getting us checked in and giving us directions.

First of all, the cabins are inexpensive. They are clean and rustic. We woke up to buffalo snorting outside our window. The cabins are located away from the main lodge in the woods. You can walk to the lodge and dodge the buffalo on your way.
We stayed at the Canyon Lodge (not the cabins) over the Fourth of July. The locatio is great for visiting other areas of the park, not much more than an hour away from anything, but the lodge buildings are fairly set back from the main Canyon complex and a bit too far away from the "Grand Canyon" itself.
