I had a planned a wedding event at the Inn - and ended up canceling. I have never experienced such poor management, shoty accounting practices, event coordination turnover and communication breakdowns in my life.
This Inn is under newer management over the last year and a half. They used to have a great reputation and now... AWFUL.
We found the Inn to be very charming. We couldn't hear anyone in the room next to us and the bar noise died down about 10, when we headed up to bed. The floors upstairs are creaky, but that is to be expected in a 100+ year old building. The restaurant is closed, but the continental breakfast was one of the better ones I've seen, and the ...

Thin walls plus bar noise equalls no sleep
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/13/07
I spent two nights at Captain Whidbey’s while attending a writer’s conference on the island. The rooms are small (their web site calls them “hobbit sized”), and I only had one tiny window, which made me regret spending extra on the view room. The walls are paper thin – you can hear everything going on next door, in the hall, and down stairs. I ...

Not a romantic getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/07
There are gaps around the rustic beams that make the sounds of one room filter into the next. Yes its rustic but if you aren't willing to have a weekend akin to kid sleepover camp, don't bother. The food is overpriced and not worth it.

Don't waste your money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/05
Nothing like the pictures, dirty, rooms very basic with minimal attempt by Inn to make it attractive or pleasing to the consumer. Expensive for what you get. Bar out of common drink ingrediants, restaurant not open for breakfast. Is located on small body of water, but so are many other places to stay.

shabby
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/05
This Inn had a good reputaion, but I understand it maybe for sale, so perhaps that is why it is so run down and dreary. The room was shabby and musty. The maid never cleaned the bathroom evidenced by the goopy soap dish, and hair in the sink. One possitive note, The Cove restaurant was excellent.
