We have stayed at Galvez for 2 years in a row. We have been pleased every time. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The place is cleaned inside and out on a daily basis. You feel like you step back in time when you arrive. It is a beautiful place to stay. I always feel like I am at a resort. It is so relaxing and secluded. We are so relaxed ...
Whe i first went to the hotel it was not yet owned by the wyndam. It has since been restored to it's original look of just before th 20th Century when the 1900 huiicane destroyed Galvaston. It is romantic, Cozy and very very elegant. A great treat. Save your pennies for it but iti s worth the trip and right on the Seawall.
I loved how Hotel Galvez was set up. The historic setting around you makes it feel like a very soothing environment. The pool and the outside area is gorgeous. We are definetly going back this coming up summer.
We didn't like the room we got at first because the scenary was not good, and the front desk immediatly got us another room looking out over the gulf.
If you don't care about reviews. Please, care about those of us posting the negative ones on this hotel. They are true. Stayed there on a cold December night. Heater was broken. They were not going to fix it until Monday so they expected us to change room in our jamies in the middle of the night. Next mornming, they told us they gave us the ...
While we didn't use much of the facilities, we did enjoy our stay. I agree that it is a beautiful albeit small room and beautiful lobby and exterior (repairs of a large window was being started as we left.) We weren't able to get the queen bed we wanted, and the double beds should have been replaced or upgraded a few years ago it seems. The staff was friendly and responsive. The location was perfect as was the view and the weather.
The food is absolutely magnificent! They have a new chef from the Cordon Bleu in Austin and what a difference that has made. I recently had stuffed flounder with fresh asparagus with cheese potatoes. It was a meal to remember. Everything was cooked, seasoned, and served to perfection. The chef even came out to our table to ask if everything was ...
We liked this place because there was not much not to like. It was much better than a Holiday Inn or Best Western. We stayed for our first anniversary and it was well spent.
Lovely setting, beautiful pool area, wonderful dining. The restored old hotel is right across from the beach. Our only problem was our reservation was for a king bed and we were given a room with 2 doubles. Since we reserved late for a long holiday weekend, they waived the 2 night minimum stay for us, and they double checked to see if any kings were available, I have to give them credit for doing their best.
Hotel Galvez is without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. I have never been treated so badly by an establishment before. Wyndham hotels have always been a great place to stay, but they should be embarrased to have their name attached to this place.
From the moment we checked in (or rather tried to check in, they ...
