The whole place is in need of a major update - splintery decks, rickety stairs, old paint and generally very "tired". Rooms were old, stained and dirty. Very expensive - $450 per night for a 2 bedroom unit overlooking the beach on Memorial Day w/end. Very average food. However, the beach is great as is Tastebuds Gormet store and the location can't be beat. We will not be returning.
I have been coming here since the early 70s as a kid and now brought my kids... after I hadnt been there in years assuming they kept the place updated. Sadly, the place looks the same...A few minor repairs and details updated but overall for the price not at all worth what we payed! 70s has been resort trying to maintain status. They need to Lower ...

My Winter Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/14/08
I spent the last week of February and the first week of March here at the Colony, and I must say, "marvelious"! The grey North of Pennsylvania, along with it's cold dampness simply disappeared the moment that I arrived at the Colony. The temperature was about 75/76degrees that afternoon on the white sand, and a far cry from the ...

Expensive and very dated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/08
The resort is very old and in need of some serious updating. Not what we expected for the money. Do not expect alot! Very loud staff in the early morning hours making sleeping in on a vacation impossible but maybe our unit was just in a bad location. Pool was overcrwoded and very dirty to the point that my kids wouldn't get in it. You had ...

The Greatest Gulf Coast Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/08
This is just perfect for those who wish to simply relax and recover from the stresses of the "Grind"! This area of the Gulf of Mexico has the most beautiful sand, it's pink, and it matches the turquoise water perfectly. The pool is clean and the lifeguards are friendly and courtious. The rooms are clean and neat, and the maids are ...

No longer #1!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/08
When you drive in signs all over proclaim this to be the #1 tennis resort, until 2004. Well, it's hard to believe it was #1 anything in the last 15 years. Looks like nothing has been updated in 15 years. The room was filthy when we arrived, I'm talking about dirty toilet seats, used glasses in the bathroom, etc. They didn't honor ...

Outstanding tennis and beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/07
Go there every year and love it.
Great place especially for families to vacation.
If your kids are young, they have terrific camp. If your kids are older, they will find friends to play volleyball or chill.

Great Summer Fun and Sun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/07
The beach is as nice as it gets, the pool is on the beach. There are plenty of loungechairs and afew tiki huts for shade. It's great to get a refreshing drink at the bar, and walk right to the beach with it. Talk about cool and crisp on a hot Summer day, this is the place to be! The presence of a small pier makes fishing fun for the kids. ...

The Best Summer Vacation Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/29/07
I loved the location right on the beach in the Gulf of Mexico, what could be better! The pool is a pleasure to swim in all the time, it's clean and the lifeguards are always helpful. The rooms were very nice, and the maid kept things clean. The bathroom had a jacuzzi and a steamroom built-in, again a plus. The grocery store made fantastic ...

very old
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/07
My family and I have been going for years to the Colony because of the kids club for my child and tennis......but alright already, put some money in this place!! It is so outdated that it is ridiculous. The bathrooms are from the 70's and the "new" tv's are probably 10 years old. They are the bargain basement variety that you can ...
