The travel department at my company recommended the Shelborne by saying that it had success with prior bookings. I'm just not one of them. The building is run-down. My room was reminiscent of a college dorm room. It was downright tacky. The good thing is that I didn't spend that much time inside the hotel. The view from the balcony was great -- overlooking the beach. The location is ideal, right on Collins.

Located right on South Beach, great view if you get an oceanside room, although the balcony we had was tiny and off to the side. Small room but included was a small fridge & microwave, which was handy. Very pretty pool area with bar/restaurant poolside. Staff was very helpful.The website pictures showed a more modern room, but it was ok and most people will spend their time on the beach anyway. older interior and old elevator.
