My wife & I along with my 2 children stayed at Shephards in July 2009. It was the most horrible experience I ever had. They put us in a room close to the nightclub, they said that nothing else was available. We could not fall asleep until after the club closed & after the drunks from the club finished running & yelling up & down the ...
I booked this hotel through Hotwire for about 50% less than their own website, which was the best part of my stay. Upon checking in, they charge a $10 per night "resort" fee, independent from Hotwire. They also put a $50 hold on your credit card - fair enough. Upon check out, my card was charged twice - each for $430, a total of ...

never again, the first day we arrive we had to go around the block twice to park because a fight had broken up in the parking lot, our room was right above the tiki bar the music when on till pass 2 in the morning, third day another fight broke up the police was there constantly. a lot of people walk around intoxicated and on top of the I was charge 40 dollars more for booking online.
As a place for 20 & 30-year-olds, probably great. But if you want a location for some relaxation you won't get it here. Loud, late music, construction next door, not the best service at the bars or in the restaurant. If you're going for Spring Break, you'll have a ball. Anything else, good luck!!
We went last year for the first time right before Thanksgiving. We had a blast. Lots to do for adult and children alike. Live music on the boardwalk right by the outdoor bars. Friendly people. We met a group of people,I think 4 or 5 families that had been coming here for quite a few years. From 15 down to 5. We made reservations when we left ...

If you want to be up all night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/27/08
Location was good and the pool area was nice. The staff only cleaned our room one day-don't know why. I've been in better rooms with much more comfortabe furniture for the same or lower price. And even though I love music, with it starting at 2:30 in the P.M. and going on until 2 the next morning, it became extremely irritating. Therer's no sleep if you're near the pool area. Also, staff not friendly.

the bed was hard as a rock. pillows were flat. the staff was rude. the bathtub was leaking. pool was too cold. a pallmetto bug was in the room.
The hotel itself was comfortable but the view really wasn't that good. If your looking to wake up and stroll through the beach right in front of you, you'll probably have about 20 steps to take. Not to mention that your not even directly on the coast either. In other words, there practically is no beachfront to the hotel. On top of ...

We'll be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/05/07
Three years ago we planned a trip to Florida and ended up changing our destination 3 times due to a busy hurricane season. We ended up spending a beautiful evening and night at Shepherds and had breakfast on the deck overlooking the gulf, before heading north again to avoid another looming hurricane. We promise, we'll be back.
