we have been coming here 3-4 times a year since we stumbled over it on an inland trip from Carmel. The grounds are lovely and the place is right across from a large community park. Dog friendly is the first thing we look for, and we used to stay @ Wayside in Carmel village until it went chi-chi and no longer accepts dogs. Glad we found this quiet ...

very disappointing and overpriced

The only reason to stay here is the dog-accommodation, otherwise find another hotel. It was noisy, no AC, no internet in rooms, dingy, old, with overall poor upkeep. The vacuum had not seen these carpets in a while. The rooms are much nicer and cleaner in just about any other local hotel, and it's often cheaper. For $100 less each night, we ...

Spoiled Rotten

Wow!!! Is the best description that I can provide.
Impeccable service and the comp breakfast was outstanding. There are not many places you can visit where the owner himself takes the time to greet and welcome you. You truly feel welcome and "at home" while staying at the CARMEL VALLEY LODGE. I never wanted to leave.

Great Place!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/06
This was the best vacation, the Lodge was great and we were able to take our dog and wern't made to feel out of place. Every one that travels with their dog must stay here at least once.

Bring the dog
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/06
This is a great place if you want to bring your dog with you. They have a good breakfast in the morning (outdoor seating if you have your dog with you). The rooms are a bit worn, but that is the price you pay to stay in a place that allows dogs. Overall a good experience but the room rate is too high during peak season.

Enjoyed Our Stay at the Lodge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/05
We just got back from a quick overnight trip to Carmel Valley. I'm very glad we chose Carmel Valley Lodge. The minute we walked in, the people behind the front counter made us feel welcome. They even gave our dog a bag of doggie treats. The rooms are a bit small (maybe the rooms with fireplaces are bigger) but very clean. The only negative ...

pet-friendly retro lodging
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/04
If you're looking for pet-friendly/family-friendly lodging in Carmel Valley, your choices are pretty limited. So, this comfy motel--1950s-style friendly, and '70s shabby (with 21st century wifi internet access)--is a find. The rooms are roomy, unglamorous, and un-air conditioned. Many have fireplaces. There's a small but pretty pool. ...

Reasonable, but needs updating
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/04
The Carmel Valley Lodge is a reasonable option in Carmel Valley. The rooms are large, but the hotel needs updating and is a bit dingy. If you're wanting to take your pet with you, this is a good option, as they do allow 4-legged guests. Located about 15-20 minutes outside of Carmel, it's just minutes from downtown Carmel Valley.
