The price on this motel and its location were very good. However, noise from the street, other "guests" outside our room and inside their rooms on the inside square (non-street side), and the guy snoring on the other side of the wall didn't make for a very good night's rest. It is older, but it was clean and comfortable--we weren't there to spend a lot of time in the room anyway.

The ONLY minus was window adjoining the street, which made for a lot of noise. Otherwise cute and comfortable, close to all and a good value.

Location could not be beat. Rooms are not new and not deluxe, but our room was clean and roomy for the price. No pool, but free wi-fi. I have no complaints.

Upon our arrival, the office was closed and we were unable to check in. We had hoped to have a bit of a break so that we could freshen up prior to going to the Greek Theater for a show. The Golden Bear Inn has a wonderful old California charm to it. The rooms are very clean and the staff is friendly. It is conveniently located to all Berkeley activities and is an excellent value.

I will return and would recommend it highly.

Everything went great. Family booked 5 rooms for all staying at golden bear inn, other than no air cond. (not needed in calif at night), all went well, centrally located, close to anywhere we wanted to go from el cerrito to oakland. several fine restaurants about 1/2 mile away.


i will go back next time in the area to visit family.
