Staff was OK not overly friendly, room was clean but shabby. Food in the Cafeteria was terrible. Would not stay again when Holiday Inn is 1 mile away and $40 cheaper and has a good restaurant.
This old motel-like lodge was adequate and clean enough but nothing special. Our room was a bit run down and not as nice as other, less expensive motels in the area. We found the restaurant really poor quality and the staff on the verge of disinterested/unfriendly. We plan to visit Chinle again in the Spring and we will be staying elsewhere. Canyon de Chelly itself was fabulous!
After making reservations for two nights at Thunderbird Lodge three months in advance, and confirming the reservations before leaving home, upon check-in my reservations were incorrect. This is one of the most beautiful lodges, that I've ever had the pleasure to stay in. It is Native American owned, and it shows in their gracious hospitality. I look forward to many return trips to the Thunderbird Lodge when visiting the beauty of Canyon De Chelly.
