Overall the Landing is the best hotel in Ketchikan. Located on the main drag and right accross from the Alaska Marine Ferry terminal they have a pub and resturant that is excellent food and good prices. The rooms are good but a little pricey if you are on a budget. But worth the price you pay No negatrives here and good service. Owned by the richest lady in Ketchikan.
If you bring your vehicle or plan to get a rental, this is not the place for you. There is never any parking! I had to park on top of an icy hill, and lug my two children and dog down the slope. People were parking on curbs and in bushes. It is the worst during luch and diner hours, so if you do find a parking spot I suggest not going anywhere ...
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very spacious and great beds. We slept better than we do at home. The hotel was right across from the Ak Marine ferry which is how we traveled to Ketchikan. The free shuttle took us all over the city as we needed to go. We were able to also work from our lap top during our stay with their free wireless. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
The Landing is next door to the fire hall, with the alarms and sirens at all hours of the night. The other side is the old folks home, with alarms and sirens at all hours of the night. Across the street is the barge line company, with back-up beepers and crashing together of containers all night long. Plus they have a in-house bar, which is good if you want a drink, but not good if your room is nearby. I finally moved to the Super 8.
