I've stayed at Maho 3 times, including once where I worked there for a month in the summer. A great place for singles, or young couples. Ask for a tent up on the hill - its more walking (and more stairs!) but you'll be cooler.

We recently visited our best friends who were spending a month working at Maho Bay Camps in a work exchange program. Overall it was a great experience; BEAUTIFUL beaches, good food and friendly people. The snorkeling at Maho and around the island is by far the best I've ever experienced.
Maho Bay offers the most tranquil and beautiful surroundings I've ever experienced. The tent cottages are great, the staff is friendly and helpful. Everyone is happy to be there. Try to get tent D-7 or D-8.
For the best deal on St. John, Maho Bay Campgrounds is the answer. For $75 in the low season a night (20% off that if you are a Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park member), you really can't find a better value with the access to the beach, trails, comfortable space, food and just some of the best views in the world.
