This was a good choice for someone who loves Seattle, wants to be as close to the waterfront/shopping/heart of downtown as possible, and wants something different than a Marriott. It caters mostly to singles and is very trendy with an excellent (but expensive) restaurant.
The key feature is the art. A different photograph on every door and a ...

A very expencive vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/06
Our stay at the Hotel Max was pretty good. The staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and quick. The room was a bit on the small side. And the bathroom was even worse. Not a lot of room to do anything. The beds are extremely comfortable. But the cleaning crew left a lot to be desired. They did not come till five o'clock the first day ...

Not bad, but overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/06
I agree with other reviews about the helpful staff - they are always ready to help or offer recommendations, and the valet parking is efficient.
Again, though, the rooms are extremely small - just a bed and a dresser, a closet and a bathroom. We decided to pay more for the king room because of reviews that claimed they are a bit roomier, but I ...

Anticipating the next visit

Great price, great location - somewhat safe part of town. Staff let me sip my wine in their lobby instead of in the bar. Two Starbucks within stumbling distance. I likened it to the W Seattle but cozier. Room right next to the elevator gave me no problem at all. Only complaint, no bathtub. You could tell it was a vintage hotel, it still had the ...

Wonderful Experience at Hotel Max
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/06
My wife and I traveled to Seattle for a 4 night stay. The Hotel Max was referred to us by a couple friends, and they were right, this hotel is fantastic!
It's a very hip hotel. The walls are littered with art from local Seattle artists/painters which makes the hotel very unique compared to the cookie-cutter chains you see today. It was ...

After the remodel it's one of the coolest hotels in downtown Seattle. Lots of art and great staff. The beds are amazing and you can walk to anything in Seattle. Will go back everytime I'm in town!

Disappointing experience.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/06
Photo on web is deceiving......multi-story garage has been built behind hotel, completely blocking view of Space Needle. Rooms are TINY.....shower size of a very small closet, barely big enough for one person. No floor space, 'non-smoking room' smelled like cigarettes. Staff, especially valet, extremely nice and helpful, location is great. Good on-site restaurant/bar.

Loved the Vance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/05
Stayed at the Vance Hotel with a friend in the spring of 2005. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, right from the moment we arrived outside. The Valet met us at our car and offered assistance with parking the car and bringing in our bags. Other staff members had suggestions for things we could do around town and gave us maps to show us ...

Good things come in small packages.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/05
This hotel is great. I was in Seattle on business and I am a hotel snob and neatnick. I felt as though I was the first person to ever stay in the room it was so clean. I usually travel with my own sheets and toss the comforter on the floor but the pristine white duvet was so beautiful and made me feel at ease. The rooms are art deco and while they ...

Hotel room size is insulting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/05
This hotel is under construction, so there is no lobby-be forewarned. The room size is uncomfortably small and the bathrooms are even smaller! One can barely wash their hair in the shower. If you want luxury and comfort, this is not the place.
