Our recent visit to the Duke of York Motor Hotel quickly embraced us with feelings of romance, charm, serenity and everything we needed to make our weekend complete. The hotel and our room were clean, the staff was hospitable, the convenient restaurants (all three) were less than a half block of each other. More importantly, the food was fresh ...

Review from a local...

As a resident of this area I know how the hotels skyrocket in price during the summer. Duke of York is still reasonable without having to sacrifice quality. Everytime I have out of town company come, I put them up here.

Great Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/05
I love the place is was comfortable and relaxing. The view was beautiful and the area was great. The room was clean and neat. The service was nice. The only thing I would say that I would like to see if you can build or add on rooms with a little kitchen in there because I could just lock myself in that room all day and all night long. So really I guest I really didn't dislike anything. I give this hotel a 3.5 stars.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/05
Arrived on a Monday, stayed one week. Motel was virtually empty. Asked for room with refrigerator and perhaps microwave, desk clerk "none available". After two nights on a mattress that seemed to be a boxspring covered like a mattress, asked to change, desk said all mattresses were new and no one had ever complained. After insisting, ...

A great perfect getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/05
The Duke of York is the perfect getaway. Grew up in Colonial Williamsburg and now live in Pittsburgh. Many people don't know about this perfect little motel. The rates are budget friendly, the staff is attentive, the rooms are clean (nothing too fancy) but perfect. There are many things to do with in the Yorktown area. The location of the ...
stayed there many years ago. Loved it. Beautiful view. Have not stayed there recently, so your question on last visit would be in accurate.

A Nice Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/05
My wife and I visit the Historic Triangle often but this is the first time that we stayed in the Yorktown area! The "Duke" was a special treat. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a room with a fridge and a microwave...very nice. The surrounding area made for a delightful walk in the peaceful quite surroundings! The staff was helpful and polite. We will definately stay again.
