I read the reviews after I had booked my reservation with Hot wire. I was expecting a really bad experience. I even took a can of air freshener. Too my surprise it was a pleasant stay. Yes the buiding was old and there was a musty smell to my room when I entered, but a quick spray with my air freshener and turning on the air, I hardly notice ...
The entire room smelled musty and moldy. There was mold in the closet on the walls. Not enough towels in the bathroom had to ask for more. Will not stay here again.
We stayed at La Quinta South for two days and had a great time. Swam in the pool a couple times and it was so nice. Breakfast was wonderful! Even signed up to be a returns member! Cleaning crew was excellent, it was very clean and quite. Very short drive to Padre Island, USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium! The price was the best!
Even though I had read all reviews posted here I thought maybe it wasn't that bad. Jesus... this was the worst La Quinta I've ever stayed. Old, expensive, mold, dead roaches (some others alive), lots of noise from the highway, not very cleen sheets and pillows. Believe me, Find another place to stay.

The worst Hotel i've ever been too!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/09/08
Although the hotel comes at a very inexpensive price, what can u expect. When I first walked into my room i saw mold on cealing right above my bed. The internet was very poor.It was in bad need of refurbishing. Just when i thought it could't get any worse i found a cockaroach on the curtains. on a personal note(it was a little bigger than the size of my thumb). But by far NEVER again will i come to a "La Quinta Hotel" again!
First of all, when we got here the bathroom light didn't work so we had to change rooms cause no repair person was on duty. Then, the new room had a dirty tub and walls. Room service did not come till 6pm the next day????!!!!! Each time we called the front desk no one answered!!! Ran out of most of the breakfast by 9:30... I think the same ...
Pet friendly, with very helpful staff, they went above and beyond. Texas Classroom Teacher's discount was helpful, otherwise it would have been too expensive. My room was very nice. A pleasant place to find shelter from tropical storm Erin.
Think La Qunita. That's what you get. It's definitely not one of those new ones. There was a used towel behind the bathroom door and hairs on the blankets. Otherwise, a value night's stay.

Wonderful stay.

Absolutely the cleanest place I've stayed in a very long time. Vehicle alarm went off and security was there! Employees were all very friendly. Will stay there again.
