I was kitchen staff in 1973. Hated scrubbing pots with beef barley soup. Chef believed the only way to cook it was to burn the barley to the pan! My brother John was wait staff for about 10 years. My sister was the barefoot chambermaid in '74. I believe all 6 of us worked there at some point. Gerry and Anita were great bosses. Even learned how ...
I vacationed there with family and returned the following 3 summers as a camp counselor and lifeguard. If you worked at GAFR 1983-1985 please post your name at this site and I'll contact you.
I worked at Golden acres from 1992 to 1996 and became good friends with the owners Pat, Gerry and Jen. The guests were a lot of fun and I forged many friendships among the staff members. Some of which continue still. I met my future wife there and 13 years later we now have three children. It would be great to hear from anyone from those days. Rose ...

Great Summercamp!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/21/09
I worked at GAFR in 1990 and 1991 as a counselor. It's a great place to spend your summer. In 1991 I only worked in the nursery and had a great time there. Still looking for Rose (born Oct. 8th, 2 children, Krystyna and AJ), who I worked with. If anyone knows Rose from Stamford, tell her Marion from the Netherlands is looking for her :-)

A great country get-a-way
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/12/07
I was a guest at Golden Acres many years ago as a teenager. I loved the swimming, horseback riding, feeding the animals and great meals. The year after that I returned as a camp counselor to work. It's a great get-a-way for families, especially if you live in a city. There are lots of hills, grass and you can see thousands of stars in the sky at night.
When i was younger, my family including my dog and even my cat, went to Golden Acres from the time i was 5 to 13. It is truely a home away from home. To wake up every morning to the calls of a rooster, be able to go riding everyday, fishing in the lake, and boating, is something that only a place like Golden Acres can provide.

A lot of fun for the whole family. Great activities for the kids. Horse back riding is included in the price and is great fun.
