I was kitchen staff in 1973. Hated scrubbing pots with beef barley soup. Chef believed the only way to cook it was to burn the barley to the pan! My brother John was wait staff for about 10 years. I worked at Golden acres from 1992 to 1996 and became good friends with the owners Pat, Gerry and Jen. The guests were a lot of fun and I forged many friendships among the staff members. I worked at GAFR in 1990 and 1991 as a counselor. It's a great place to spend your summer. In 1991 I only worked in the nursery and had a great time there. I was a guest at Golden Acres many years ago as a teenager. I loved the swimming, horseback riding, feeding the animals and great meals. The year after that I returned as a camp counselor to work. It's a great get-a-way for families, especially if you live in a city. There are lots of hills, grass and you can see thousands of stars in the sky at night.

When i was younger, my family including my dog and even my cat, went to Golden Acres from the time i was 5 to 13. It is truely a home away from home. To wake up every morning to the calls of a rooster, be able to go riding everyday, fishing in the lake, and boating, is something that only a place like Golden Acres can provide.
