We stayed in a suite here during the winter. The fireplace in the dining room was roaring and the meal was fantastic, a gourmet treat. On two occasions, I have had out of town relatives stay at the Inn. I should have given up after the first relatives were placed in a smoking room next to a loud wedding. I gave the inn a second chance because it's a beautiful inn and I've had splendid times there before. The second incident involved a very unclean room and lousy service. ...

Don't stay here in the winter.
The rooms are nice but our bed was between windows. No storm windows, the wooden single pane windows didn't fit in the track. We had to use extra pillows and blankets to cover the windows so we didn't freeze at night.
We visited other rooms in hopes of changing rms but they all seemed to have the same ...

The building is steeped in history and you can feel it, however, the place battles humidity and has a worn feel, and smell. Our room was very nice, but it's the location you're in the hub of Amherst. We enjoyed the architecture and people, the locals and students.

We stayed here twice this past summer and were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the delicious food. The bathrooms were small but that is to be expected with historic lodging. I loved the fireplaces, antique furniture and even the creaky wood floors. Don't stay here if you want a standard, boring hotel room but if you want charm and good food, this is a great place!
