I had never been to the Big Island before and this trip was sure a learning experience. One of the things I did not know about the big island is it's lack of sandy beaches; luckily this hotel is extremely close to one of the larger beaches in the Kona area. This is a very nice looking hotel on the outside, but what I found inside was shameful. ...
WE JUST RETURNED BACK FROM OUR VACATION FROM KONA, I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT WE HAVE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL, BECAUSE THE REVIEWS SEEMED TO BE O.K. DON'T FALL FOR IT! THIS HOTEL IS A PEACE OF JUNK, DON'T WAST YOUR VALUABLE MONEY ON THIS HOTEL. THERE ARE MANY OTHER, MUCH MUCH BETTER HOTELS TO CHOOSE FROM. THIS OUTRIGGER HOTEL IN KONA, IS DIRTY, ...

The hotel was okay...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/08
My husband and I stayed here for a few days. The hotel lobby is nice and you can get free internet access here and see sea life swimming by from the restaurant balcony. Our room seemed old. The bathroom was cleaned but seemed dirty- I wouldn't shower there without slippers. We didn't even bother swimming in the hotel pool- instead we ...
My wife and I spent four days here on our honeymoon. The hotel was nice and clean. We spent a lot of time exploring the island so the location was perfect.
The only thing we didn't like was that the restaurant/bars closed so early. Also the pool. Adults need to have a time to themselves after 9:00PM. We were always the last couple to leave each area and it wasn't even late. We then had to go to town to try to find drinks and late night food. Everything else was great. We'll probably never be able to afford the property after the remodel so were happy we experience it this summer.

I prefer it over the Waikoloa Hilton
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/07
I love the Outrigger because the grounds are absolutely beautiful. It really felt sacred there to me. The hotel itself has an open lanai resteraunt and the bar extends over a pristine lagoon. They took care to work the design of the building into the natural surroundings. With our deal, the breakfast buffet was free every morning, all in all it was ...
This facility is built partially over a tidal pool so just about every room has an ocean view. The grounds are nicely decorated and everything on the lobby floor is open air. The pool is nice and has restaurants on two sides attached to the building. We had breakfast there twice. The snorkeling at the beach is outstanding. Sea turtles mingle ...

We Couldn't Wait to Leave!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/21/07
May 12-18th 2007. Upon arrival, the hotel upgraded us to a suite. #605.The view was great. The room had old stained carpets that felt terrible to walk on. Small bathroom w/shower that had mold, rust, peeling paint. Mildew on carpet where shower leaked. Not so good mattress. Small rusted refrigerator. Front desk moved us to a "better" room ...

Perfect experience, a surprise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/14/07
We were ready to have a ''ok'' hotel, decent, but not great; it finally was such an outstanding, charming, perfect experience, was the best base from which we have discovered that great island. If they tell you you might see turtles...it's because you will, wonderful.

I miss it so much!

I stayed here a couple summers ago. It was the best experience of my life. The bay is great for snorkeling. Overall, the best hotel on the kona coast.
