I was staioned at Pearl Harbor in 1955-56. We returned several times to the islands but one of the most memorable visits was when we stayed at the Hale Koa. Later we were on a cruise around the islands and had a 3 day stay in Waikiki. We had most of our meals at Hale Koa. Everthing that I remember about our visits is nothing less than excellent. We ...

Definitely worth it

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village next door the first two times I visited Hawaii with my husband and on the third visit we decided to give Hale Koa a try. It was definitely worth it. Even though the first tower can use a little remodeling, the second tower is a lot better. The breakfast buffet is so worth the money, the waitstaff there ...
loved the open pool with linking bridges inviting family of all ages, however oposed the adult swim times when the children still splashed everywhere. The beautiful scenery around the hotel make this hotel a perfect vacation paradise for anyone ages 0-99 and have activties for every age as well. Over all I cannot wait to stay there again. Aloha!

I would love to go back to the Hale Koa Hotel. I had a great time
I loved the way the landscaping was designed. The separate pathways to different areas were very eye inspiring with all the exotic plants of Hawaii. The entire staff was very gracious and courteous. The early opening of the "coffee house" was something I looked forward to each morning.
My room was very comfortable and sitting on the ...
Most excellent place to stay. Although one naturally spends more time out of the hotel than in it, the Hale Koa was a great place to come home to after a long day seeing Hawaii.
Sorry for the title but it's true this is for military personnel; active, retired or with civil service status.
The Hale Koa Hotel on the shores of Waikiki Beach; is the bomb diggity!! I could not believe the military put this aside for us as our discount hotel for military personnel (I'm a military dependant's spouse/retired). ...

Amazing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/06
My husband and I had the opportunity to meet for a week in Hawaii @ the middle of his deployment cycle. I give the Hale Koa the most credit for making our week in paradise the most memorable experience in our lives to date. The accomodations were perfect - the location was ideal - the beach and downtown shopping at your doorstep - rent a car ...

Great Location/Average Amenities

You can't beat the location, but as far as the hotel itself goes, it's not all that special. Given an option, I'd much rather stay next door at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

More than expected!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/06
The location right on the beach and the great rooms were really more than we expected at a hotel managed by the military. The service is great and the staff is very nice and cater to you every need. It has a small but well stocked exchange and an office where you can plan and book all of your site seeing tours. We plan to go back soon.
