I’ve been going to Chesapeake for the past couple years with my family and it is the best resort in the Keys. They have tons of water sport activities for the kids and great pools for lounging. It is always clean and the staff is very attentive. It is consistently just what we are looking for.
There is no ocean beach; there is no place to go for a one mile plus walk unless you walk go alongside the highway (dangerous); there are few activities for 55+ people though we enjoyed Crane's Point; Green Turtle is a recommended restaurant; the restaurant next door (Whaler something) is below par. Our Garden Room accomodation was very small ...
Great location but the resort was dated and dirty. Staff lacked patience at everything that was going on around them. The rooms overlooking the gardens are very outdated and are dirty. Although we did not stay in the larger units overlooking the sea, they looked much more spacious, newer and cleaner from the outside.
As visitors from the UK this is what we imagine paradise to look like.Hammocks strung between palm trees, clear blue skies, dolphins leaping from the turquioise ocean. This is it!! Our 2 kids (7 &8) absolutely loved the place. Two pools kept them occupied as well as kayaks and pedaloes. Our only gripe was that the desk staff could have been a bit ...
The first day we got there it was cloudy, rainy so everything looked very depressing. There was water everywhere; you could not even see the tennis court. The next day when the sun came out, it was much better and you were ready to overlook the fact that your light did not work in your bathroom, the exhaust fan made a huge noise, but did not work, ...
No hangers, sink clogged, remote control broken, charged $18.00 per day for event fee, 2 bottles of water and a newspaper..."It's on the website" is the only answer we got. THis area is hurting right now....they should just raise thier rates. I'll go down the street next time to Hampton Inn..
The room was very clean but in serious need of updatng. The furniture was in need of repair and the tub had a mat covering the bottom of it. IF the room had not been so clean we would have left. the grounds are OK a bit run down or hurricane damaged but pretty good. The $18 resort fee is well worth it.
what we liked: using the bikes and kayaks.($18 daily fee).they were in good shape and always available when we wanted them. coffee, bottled water and newspapers are provided daily. beautiful location, nice sunsets.
what we didn't like: local calls were 75 cents each.(use the phone at the chamber of commerce, its free for local calls). The ...
This is the perfect place for families, or just anyone who loves to be a beach bum. Awesome views, and on a great piece of property!! When we stayed, we scuba dived and snorkeled all day, as well as lie around on the ocean-front hammocks. The room was gorgeous, as was the surrounding property...I had a wonderful time!!!
