Expect Historic

Here's what to expect. This is supposed to be a charming historic little hotel. That's really what it is, so don't expect much more, like a modern 3 star hotel. It's old, creaky, but has a charm of a 100+ year old antique. It is very pricey due to its central location in Mendocino (all in-town lodging is expensive). I can't ...

I was here in 2004, and it wasn't up-to-par as I would have liked. In fact, the whole place was pretty shabby.

But apparantly, in 2006, they renovated the ENTIRE property! The Gardens are blossoming, they have wireless internet access, EVERYTHING in the rooms have been replaced and restored; the beds, the bedding and ...

Will Not go back to this Hotel or its restaurant

Eating in the restaurant at the mendocino Hotel was a very big let down. Service was atrocious, food was barely passable and the bill was unreasonable given all of the above. The enitre Hotel and restaurant are in desperate need of renovation and management help.

My husband and I travel frequently and must say this is the WORSE hotel room we have ever seen! We paid $249 for the garden suite and was shocked when we entered the room. Unfortunately, we arrived very late at night and this was the only hotel in town. The curtains were falling down and were pinned up with safety pins, the carpet was filthy and ...

Beautiful old hotel

The Mendocino Hotel is a cosy place to stay in Mendocino. It overlooks the town's bluffs and has a welcoming and warm atmosphere - perfect for the cold and fog of Mendocino. The rooms are small and historic. If you want modern amenities, stay elsewhere. If you want a bit of old California, then I highly recommend the Mendocino Hotel. We've spent many hours curled up in the sofas in front of the main lobby's grand fireplace.
