  • A perfect experience
    By Andrew, 09/22/09
Wow - it seems there is a lot of nit-picking on the St. Orres and it is kind of hypocritical in that people want to "get away from it all" but "there is no microwave" or "there is no tea". No, the St. Orres isn't your home and it isn't the Four Seasons - it is the perfect place to let go and enjoy a slow pace ...

  • No compensation for the slug!
    By Chuck, 11/26/06
St. Orres was highly recommended to us, so we had a Thanksgiving Eve pris-fixe dinner. Atmosphere was a bit stuffy, and food presentation was ostentatious. I ordered the sea bass for my main course, and it came atop a sort of pancake or latke, finally topped with a nasturtium. But as I was about to take my first bite, I was greeted with a one-inch ...

  • Don't miss this opportunity for a romantic, relaxing experience with some of the most beautifully presented, delicious food ever! But I agree with another satisfied person who stayed there: the hot, wonderful breakfast in the morning is the best part of all! It's not like what you get in hotels (room service where the food, especially the toast, is cold)... this is hot and positively delicious! Someone knocks on the door and by the time you get there, they're gone! and there's a square box with a handle outside, waiting for you! The only thing that I would have liked that I didn't receive would be proper English tea (loose tea, in a teapot, hot). Maybe that will be there when we return... Hope so.

I would like hot tea offered in the morning with the wonderful breakfast. Many people are not coffee drinkers and most Europeans, and Canadians, love their tea. I am neither, but I feel the same.

What I liked most was the breakfast, delivered hot, and the dinner (positively delicious!) and, of course, the cozy cottage that my husband and I stayed in. Lovely!

  • Perfect Romantic Getaway!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/04/06
My husband and I stayed in one of the original cabins on our honeymoon 19 years ago, and have returned for other anniversary trips. Almost every day upon our return from wandering the beaches or shops, we found deer in our meadow. The restaurant was excellent, with food as beautiful to see as it was delicious to eat. However, the best part was ...

  • Love the kitty
    By Mike, 10/01/05
My experience at St. Orre's Inn is based on several visits over the last three years. From the beginning the ambiance and lure of the place has always attracted me. The added treat for me was the individual cottages where you can have your own privacy and even a little kitchen to make little snacks etc... There are a number of different ...

  • Enchanting hotel, wonderful cuisine
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/20/04
St Orres is worth a visit just for the food. The dinners are exquisite, as are the breakfasts delivered to your door each morning. The hotel itself is beautiful, with many different price options for rooms or cabins. While Gualala is a little remote, and the weather can be foggy even in the summer, it's a beautiful spot to visit.
