Been there many time and always great....clean cabins, with the dog, good food there and at the Hungry Trout up the road, remote if you like that. HOWEVER, making reservations can be laborious playing phonr tag and on one occasion they would not commit to avaiolability for nearly three months and on another they CANCELED our reservation two weeksbefor arrival and without reason or appology. DO not cancel on them however!

great deal for fishing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/10/05
greta fishing cabins, I have been going here for 10 years. The people remember you by name and the food is good. I would not take my wife and kids but for a all guy fishing trip to the ausable it is perfect. The cabins are a little dated and beat up and some are actually trailers. but they are all good for the all night card games. our trip we get breakfast, bag lunch, and nice sit down dinner plus lodging for $55 per night .

The staff was very cordial and accommodating. Cabin was clean and well equipped. Food was excellent. Very picturesque setting. We fished the Ausable River and the location was excellent and convenient. The entire experience was very warm and comfortable and the price was right!

This is a great place to spend a few nights in the Lake Placid area, especially if you are skiing or fly fishing as it's just up the road from Whiteface and across the road from the West Branch of the AuSable. You may find the facilities lacking for a weeklong stay unless you plan to eat in restaurants most of the time.
The cabins are tidy ...

Wilderness Inn II Rustic cabins
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/04/04
If you remember the way that country cabins were in the late 1950's and early 1960's and it was just great to get away from the city for a relaxing retreat then this place is for you. The cabins are clean but rustic. We enjoy our visits very much.
The bar menu is appealing and the restaurant is moderately priced with a good ...
