My husband and I needed an inexpensive get-a-away...did a lot of research and found the Americana...yes we were a little nervous about what we may be getting ourselves into...WOW were we pleasantly suprised.
The people at the desk were great and helpful...answering our questions about where to eat, and giving us directions to various ...
not your big-time, fancy hotel chain, but the rooms are definitely decent, the service is great (shuttle especially) and for visiting DC you're close to Metro and lots of shopping.

I stay here every time I'm in the DC area.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/08
This hotel is great for the person who wants to save money and doesn't need a gym or pool. Its the perfect place to stay the night, especially when you're out and about sight seeing. The driver is great, and will take you anywhere within the city you would like to go and pick you up as well. Granted its not the best looking hotel on the ...

Clean and Comfortable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/08
We enjoyed our recent stay at Americana Hotel. It is an older hotel and the exterior is in need of renovation, but everything was great after we checked in. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, as were the shuttle drivers and housekeepers, and our room was very clean. We enjoyed the free local shuttle service and the continental ...

Bad Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/06/08
This was my 3rd week-long stay at the Americana. Although the first two times were nothing to write home about....rooms not so clean, staff not so friendly, it was a convenient, cost-effective place to sleep while working here in D.C. Now, after my 3rd stay, I would definitely not come back. If you're looking for customer service, forget it. ...

Great Value for Metro DC Area
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/07
I liked the location of this hotel. It was also a great value at $99.00 per night with free parking, free self-serve breakfast, etc. One of the women at the front counter could have been more pleasant -- the others were very pleasant and helpful. This hotel is a little older, but I found it to be mostly clean with lots of amenities. Try to find another place to stay nearby for under $180 -$200 and up per night!

perfect for our needs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/07
Spending the day touring the DC sites our family was looking for a nice, clean, safe, economical, no frills place to stay at night. The Americana was exactly that. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We arrived on a Sunday morning at 930am and I asked if we could leave our auto in the parking lot until the 3pm check in and the friendly ...

Great Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/27/07
This place is a great bargain and everyone is so nice and helpful. As other reviews stated, it is old and looks old but it is clean. We had a good night sleep before catching a shuttle to the airport. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't care about a bunch of extras. I would return if in the area.

The absolute best deal!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/07
I've stayed there for over 10 years on business travel. Not a place to impress your million dollar clients... but beyond that it is better, repeat better, than most $200/night hotels.

For Economy Minded
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/18/07
Best value for the money by far. No frills, but saved $200.00 per night compared to neighboring hotels. Security not an issue, a safe place to stay. No charge for parking. Metro a couple of blocks away so 15-20 min to National Cemetary, Monuments, and museums. Shuttle bus and pickup to great nearby restaurants. Clean rooms. Not a hotel for the ...
