The Cocktail Lounge serves among the best drinks in town. Rooms are small and not up to other Oriental standards. The overall place is kind of dark. If you stayed at the Oriental in Bangkok and expect the same service ambience level, forget it! Breakfast is ok. Value for money ... I think you can find better in town. Mulia and Shangri-La are two good alternatives.
Each time when my family make trips to any part of Indonesia, it was just like going to a pasar malam....grab and grab like for free. But it is really good buy there esp for T-shirts for house/casual wears. You cant believe it is for as low as 50cts to a dollar (SGD).
For meals, i would recommend that you try their local fares instead of ...
...It was the best acccomodation that I have ever experienced:)
...very luxurious, and the service was very punctual and efficient! ...the room that I stayed in, had all the conveniences to feel very comfortable there:)
...I loved the food there, but I loved all food that I ate in Jakara:) ...I really looked forward to the complimentary breakfast there, and made sure that I took full advantage of it:)

Disappointing pool
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/05
I only been to this hotel once and I can't say that I'm impressed. The room is acceptable, but the pool was quite a disappointment. We were expecting a world class hotel such as Mandarin Oriental to have a decent swimming pool, but the size, design and everything elses of it were not impressive at all.
