If you're tired of staying in chain hotels, Hotel Chester is a wonderful break but still with all the amenities a business traveler needs. I cannot say enough about the staff: everyone introduced themselves; the proprietor personally greeted me and introduced me to key staff to make my stay one of the best, most welcome overnight rests ...

Disappointed...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/07
We felt that it was very over-priced. Our stay was OK and the staff was pleasant. Our rooms were out in a somewhat seperate part of the hotel and we had an unpleasant view of the roof. Also, we expected a "totally renovated room", but it was not. Our room was clean but walking out to our room was not clean...and apparently that might ...

Pretty good hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/06
All the above rankings, plus friendly and knowledgeable owner and friendly town. Free internet a plus. Reasonable rates. Service excellent. Adjoins co-owned pub. Good facilities (restaurants, shops) nearby.
my visit to mississippi was for my grandfather's funeral, our room was expensive $100 for 1 night but there was a full hot breakfast with bacon, sausage, pancakes, eggs, etc. the room was renovated and had an antique feel. loved my stay

Nice Surprise!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/19/06
One would not expect to find such a nice hotel in a small town. The room actually reminded me of the Ritz(I've stayed at 2). Crown molding, brass hardware in bathroom, nice classy furniture, plush comforters on the beds, fluffy towels.
Hotel staff very friendly and accomodating.
The cons not worth mentioning.
And free FULL breakfasts, not plastic bowls with cornflakes and muffins!!

Love Hotel Chester and Big Daddy's!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/05
This is an excellent place to stay in Starkville with an absolute outstanding restaurant and wonderful atmosphere. After dining there several times, it was no surprise that the head chef is a graduate of Johnson and Wales. Staff is very friendly and is a great place for any kind of social gathering/function. We stay here for all MSU events and love it!

A wonderful experience - truly Southern
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/05
This is by far one of the best experiences I have ever had in dealing with hotel staff. I would highly recommend staying with them and if you are planning a function, you would have no worries!!

Just read some other reviews...

One review stated that a free breakfast would be nice - well it was nice, very nice! The Hotel Chester DOES provide a free, breakfast. This is NOT continental or some excuse for a breakfast like that. It's a full, nice (eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, pancakes, etc) breakfast - I've not had a breakfast like this at a hotel in a long time...

The best place to stay in MS!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/05
The Hotel Chester is like a misplaced gem! I don't know which big city lost it, but I sure am glad its in Starkville. The free, full, hot, made-to-order breakfast is great, rooms were beautiful and the service couldn't be better.

Great for football games
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/05
Great downtown location. Several restaurants within walking distance. Stadium is about a mile away. If you don't mind the walk, don't have to deal with parking and traffic. Nice bar, restaurant and coffee shop inside the hotel. Only complaint is that the room was smaller than the usual hotel room. Overall, there's not a better place to spend a weekend in Starkville.
