The staff was rude and pretentious. This was my second vist, I thought I would give them another chance, but once again it was terterribly disappointing.
Talk about doing it right. We arrived a bit early and the people in front of us were having such a good time... I had to ask them what was in the wine?
Not stuffy at all, we were treated by people that enjoy making the wine and drinking it MORE than bragging about it.
First class wine, the place is gorgeous and the servers (we had 2) were very, very friendly.
We visited cakebread this past May. It was my favorite stop. Get a map or you will never find it. Clean, friendly and great wine. They even gave us extra wineand fre glasses. I was so impressed I bought a membership and have been receiving 2 of their wines monthly. As I open and enjoy each bottle, I'm reminded of the day I visited the winery. I'm on the east coast but can not wait to get back to Napa Ca and Cakebread.
Although I am somewhat of a fan of the Chardonnay they produce, the experience that I had was one that I would not recommend to others. A few staff members were very friendly while a few were rude to me and my group. I won't go back.
You may want to calll ahead for an appointment & get directions. The name is on the mailbox... no sign. This says it all. They don't need much road exposure, as the wines and hospitality are superb!!!
Cakebread is a nice break from the throngs of people heading to the cattle car type vineyards like Robert Mondavi. The vineyard offers private tours and private tastings only. I recommend the full tour of the vineyard. The full tour lasts about an hour, and an expert takes you through the entire winemaking process. The tour is followed by ...
Small family owned winery that produces some of the top wines in the Napa Valley. Highly knowledgable and friendly staff is willing to giude you through winemaking process and answer all your questions. Also known for their cooking school. Their cookbook is a must-get!
