The rail trip was late so we got to the lodge with only a few minutes to spare before our jet boat ride and the lady at the desk calmed our fears about getting to our luggage to get warmer clothes. She also helped later with letting us know how to store our luggage the next day. Forget her name, but she is a retired school teacher and she is great ...
If you want a very comfortable lodge that caters to tourists than you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for a more authentically Alaskan experience I wouldn't recommend it. Many locals hung out here the first year it opened, but after that corporate changes pretty much keep most locals away, so it's a luxurious Alaska fasod. ...
Wonderful hotel, well groomed and if the mountain is "out" no better to place to view than in their Great Room. Food and beverage fantistic. Suggest taking Mahay's jetboat tour.
After our 7 day cruise and 3 days on land we arrived at TALKEETNA. WE JUST LOVED THIS PLACE. It was last sept. we were there for the northern lights and MT. McKinley. From our room , there it was as big as life McKinley , clear as a bell. oh my god. It was a long day so we left a call at the desk to wake us if the northern lights came out and at ...
The setting is awesome with front row views of Mt. McKinley. A great, casual atmosphere with high end service, restaraunt, bar and service all around. Great staff and an unbelievable gateway to the heart of Alaska.
The Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge is unique unto itself. The staff was so friendly. The service was relaxed and made us feel relaxed. The rooms were beautifully detailed to put you in the mood of Alaska. Little mooses here and there. Real mooses just out in the woods. It was located near a river and with a beautiful view of the mountains. It was so relaxing. No worries.
One of the many fine hotels I stayed at while in Alaska. Dining on the terrace at dinner overlooking the glaciers, takes ones breath away. The small town, quaint, friendly, awesome. The food at the hotel, all extraordinary - the salmon for breakfast takes my taste buds to another orbit! One can never quite explain how utopian this truly is.
Why come to Alaska and spend a huge amount ($250 a room!) to stay in as generic a hotel as you can find anywhere? Sure the view is nice, but I wish we had stayed in a locally owned establishment with a view... I learned that there are plenty... Next time I'll know better.
Have stayed at all of the Talkeetna hotels and lodges and this is amoung the best anywhere. Fully disability accessible, and the view of Denali from their back deck is incredible!
An absolutely gorgeous facility! The views of McKinley are incredible! Rooms are nice and clean. There are a lot of places to sit and look at McKinley. Also, there are a couple of walking trails through the wooded area surronding the lodge.
The "Basecamp Bistro" had really good food and excellent service.
