It' really a fantastic hotel. The dramatic height creates a wonderful panorama of the neighboring Pu Xi District and Huang Pu River. It's the best Luxury Hotels in Shanghai I think.

having stayed there twice i would never go back again, inpersonal, bad restaurants, slow service, expensive and even though you stay in the hotel the restaurants cater to local chinese first, then the guests. i am platinum with hyatt but will never stay in this hotel again.gym is a waste of time it is basically the same size as a hotel room!! lots of new hotels who will appreciate your business.
I loved it. You can't complain in a hotel like this. You are on top of the world. Stay here and don't look back. You are in Shanghai and you have to enjoy it!

A Grand Disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/24/07
The Highest Disappointment in the World
I stayed at the Grand Hyatt last week and found it to be a relatively disappointing experience. My room had a myriad of problems – the toilet didn't flush well, the shower had leaks and squirted water all over the place, the water drained slowly from the bottom, the curtains got stuck when you tried ...

Great hotel but bad location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/07
This is a wonderful hotel. But travelers should note that it is in Pudong, across the river from the most interesting parts of Shanghai, such as Nan Jing Road, Huai Hai Road, the Bund, the French Quarter, museums, theaters, etc. True, you can get across the river by a taxi ride through the tunnel, but with increasing traffic times and difficulties ...

Luxury in the clouds

Spectacular Hotel with stunning views. Took the high speed elevator to Observation deck on the 88th floor and got birds eye view of Shanghai. The Hotel was elegant with a good variety of retaurants. A special meal at the Italian restaurant was excellent and the service was superb. The staff anticipated our needs and were right there. The rooms ...

Good views of the city, if you're not up in the clouds
The rooms at the Grand Hyatt are very high up, and there are times when the cloud level is so low that you actually have no view - funnily enough.
The hotel is standard 5-star, but there are a few design elements I disagree with. Some of the rooms can be a bit cramped which is surprising.
The hotel has a spectacular atrium which runs up/down the whole section of the hotel.

Great Architecture
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/06
I have stayed at the Hyatt in Shanghai many times and always look forward to staying there. The hotel is very nice and the food and service is very nice. You must have a drink in the bar so that you can get a feel for teh great architecture of this hotel.
Shanghai has become one of the most aktive and interesting metropole in the Far East. I was so impressive about the amazing emerge of this pole. Many services and the business climate here suit for the engaged people like me.
