This is the perfect hotel for the seasoned traveler! The building was first a fort in the revolutiorary war, then the original Citadel College. Now it has been transformed into a wonderful hotel. In true Hilton style, we were pleasantly suprised with the warm and charming staff, perfect amenities, a beautiful enviroment. A must for any Charleston goer!
This hotel being in an old building has its share of problems especially when it rains. The rooms feel wet and are small for embassy suite chains. The eating area is too small with very limited seating for the meals especially breakfast, and when we were there they ran out of food more than once!

Want to get away? This is the place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/05
Just stayed for four days with three lifelong friends for a "big birthday" present to ourselves. It had been recommended to us. It was exactly what we wanted- extremely comfortable, extra-convenient to sightseeing, shopping, and dining by foot. The breakfast each morning was bountiful and the cocktail hour was hospitable. The service and ...

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/05
I enjoyed my time in Charleston! Sales Manager Janie Hays was very helpful and made sure my stay was fun and she was very accomodating. The atrium is absolutely beautiful and history of the building is amazing. I had a wonderful vacation!

The rooms are very nice. The hotel offered a wonderful breakfast buffet that also included cook to order items. They offered complimentary cocktails and they also had a great work center with free internet, printing, and faxing. A great place to stay especially for conventions, and reunions. A good value with the breakfast, and cocktails.

Excellent Stay at the Embassy Suites Charleston
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/04
My husband and I recently stayed at the Embassy Suites in downtown Charleston. It was a wonderful experience. The decor simply adds to the history of this location. It was amazing how they built around the structure of the old Citadel to preserve the architectural history. The lobby glass cases are filled with old civil war bullets and other ...

Poor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/04
I just got back from a conference at the Embassy Suites Hotel Historic District in Charleston, SC. The rooms were very poor. There was a musty/moldy smell that hit you as soon as you walked into the room. We had to buy some Lysol spray to help with the smell. The telephone did not work in the bedroom area (they replaced it once we complained). ...
