Indifferent staff, leaks in the hallways and the smell of mold, bad food on the buffet, carpet fraying and wallpaper peeling. Find a different hotel.

Good Value

We stayed at this hotel in May 2007, and had a good experience. We had three rooms, and one was a suite with a jetted tub. After all the walking we did around DC and Alexandria, it was very much appreciated. The hotel is older, but for the money and the location, it was a good choice. Also, we liked the grocery store across the street - very convenient.
The hotel is alright (not great / not bad). I don't care for the lounge/resturant though...average food at expensive prices and substandard service. I stayed at the hotel for 3 weeks on business.
We stayed at Holiday Inn & Suites in May 2006, and they just got brand new beds. Very comfortable. Big lobby, nice restaurant, free shuttle to airport, metro, shopping, close to all the great Old Town stuff. Kids eat free, too, which in our family was a huge plus. Also, wireless high speed internet access in all rooms was free!
We would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
I visited this hotel for one night only on a Saturday nite. The staff was wonderful and when I spoke to them about the AC not working properly in my room they gave me another room and a free buffet ticket for breakfast the next morning for my trouble. By the way, the breakfast buffet is great. I will certainly visit this hotel again. Just wished they did not charge for parking.
We had not visited Washington DC since the kids were little, over 15 yrs ago. With so many hotels to choose from we were glad we picked the Holiday Inn at Alexandria. With the free shuttle service to/from the airport and to downtown Alexandria there was no need to rent a car which also saved us money. We rode the shuttle to the airport and took ...
