I'm now contesting a bill from them, because they reserved my room twice, for the wrong dates, and didn't cancel both reservations. The front office clerk was snotty and the offshore reservation service did not return calls. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP!!
This hotel is nothing like it is advertised. My wife and I spent three nights there this week and very thoroughly disappointed. The hotel is old, everything is old, dirty, or musty. The operation was like being in a Motel 6. Parking is two blocks away on the third parking level, six flights of stairs, no valet or baggage help available. It took ...

Stay Away!!!

Our room was not ready when we arrived at 6pm (should have been ready at 4pm). When we finally were able to check in, our room was filthy, with sticky spots on the nightstand, sticky bathroom floor, and also a dirty tub. We checked out right away, and they charged us for a night, even after I spoke with the manager. The manager then refused to ...

The only thing I liked about the hotel was the location. The two elevators were out of service at the same time. The winding stair case was difficult to maneuver. Crewel bedspreads should be dry cleaned after every guest leaves, that didn't happen. No operating restaurant. Only one restroom on the ground floor, unisex. For historical ...

Historic means old!

My spouse and I were celebrating a wedding anniversary and the wonderful downtown location inspired us to stay here. That was the only plus to this hotel...we found dirty towels in the closet and only one washcloth for two guests. We had stayed there before to ring in the new year and had been given a military discount. When we asked for the ...

Terrible Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/29/09
Although this is a charming hotel, the customer service of Mary and Betsy (front desk managers) is an embarrassment to the rest of the Black Hills. We had an issue with the charges on our bill. Upon expressing our concerns to the front desk, not only did they refuse to discuss it, we were met with sarcasm and rudeness. We were absolutely ...
We ended up staying here because everywhere else was full during peak season. It was a pretty cool hotel with lots of history however if you are looking for any modern ammenities such as wifi or a newer bed/cable tv then dont stay here. We were on business and the wifi was nonexistant in the 6th floor rooms. The rooms were obviously old and the ...

I had a bad experience.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/08
I booked this hotel at the last minute (around 4p.m. on Wednesday) based upon what I had read. The reservation was for the night following the booking (Thursday night). The sudden illness of a family member forced a cancellation which I called in at 11:30 a.m on the day of the reservation (Thursday). For the first time, I was informed there ...

Horrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/18/08
I came to Rapid City for a conference and was refered to the hotel with a group rate, while I was a little irritated by the rude service at the front desk, I checked in and went to the room. The room was small, smelled smokey but I was tired and didn't care. The supposed "free wireless service" didn't work (the very vocal front ...
