We had a bachelorette weekend planned for eight of us. My sister booked the room for the weekend and specifically told them that there was going to be eight of us, not only did they say that was fine, they also assured her that the room would be plenty big for all of us. The hotel was booked and I came on line to review the hotel, after reading the ...

We can't wait to go back

We loved the location. A close walk to the center of town and on the same road as the Newport Mansions. The service was excellent! Everyone was kind and helpful. The rooms were nice, but not new, which we decided was to be expected in an older hotel. But the overall hotel was very beautiful and the food was good. We had a great time.

not a good stay

my wife and I transferred from the hyatt as they dropped our spa reservations for our wedding anniversary. The spa employs very nice people and the massage started out our weekend very well. As the weather turned ugly so did our stay. The rooms are pedestrian at best, and with 3-4 weddings catered that weekend, the staff were getting stretched ...
Enjoyed our anniversary at this hotel. Small roooms in the old section, apparently much larger rooms in the new section. Would not have been able to have more than 2 people in the rooms on the old side.
Great location, made walking to mansions, harbor, shopping very easy.
View was ok, but there is enough to do that you can spend most of ...

The rooms are small. The bar and the pool are great. It is a average hotel with average prices.

We went in the middle of winter just to get away for a night. Because of this we paid about half of the summer price. The window sills were filthy. There was still hair in the shower, thus not cleaned before we arrived. We were told they had plenty of parking, but really didn't. There weren't many visitors when we stayed, yet were not ...

Great Location and Good Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/04
Recently my wife and I stayed at the Viking for a long weekend. We found the location to be excellent and the amenities to be on par with that of a 4 star hotel. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the great bars and restaurants on Thames Street and is also equally as close to the luxurious Gilded Age mansions which dot Bellevue Avenue. We ...

Miserable Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/04
I wish I could say I enjoyed the hotel, however we were only there for 1 hour. After attended a wedding most of the attendees went to the hotel to check in only to find out that many of us had no rooms (7 rooms), inluding the brides parents. The hotel management lied and tried to cover up their mistakes (we all called and confirmed the night ...
