  • Hit and miss

Having stayed at GPI several times I can related to the great and the not so great reviews. The reviewer who mentioned the demise of the Inn due to tour buses and conventions has it right. The GPI is beautiful the views breath taking. If you have an appreciation for an era gone by you will enjoy the Inn itself. Service can be from perfect to ...

  • Wonderfully plesant
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/07
Stumbled on this by mistake...have always heard about it but due to time and weather on the way to TN I had to find somewhere to stay. If I had only had more time there to spend...I would have done it in a heart beat. Beautifully decorated for the holidays, elegant...staff could not have been more friendly.

  • Fantastic Getaway
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
We loved the spa, it is a destination within itself. My first day visiting, I spent a total of 7 hours in the spa. My treatment, a divine facial, was only 80 minutes. Use of the mineral pool, sauna, eucylaptus steam room, and contrast pools are highly recommended, for total relaxation.
The Great Hall lobby is a lively space. The Grove Park ...

  • Simply Perfect
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/08/07
As a native of Asheville, I often visited the Grove Park several times during the year. Before I moved across the country, my family had an absolute, picture-perfect Christmas dinner there. The views and the rooms are out of this world. I am currently planning to go back home, and I cannot think of a more cozy place to spend the chilly Christmas than by the huge fireplaces or looking at the amazing gingerbread houses.

  • no luxery here
    By Suzie, 11/04/07
I was shocked at the quality of the rooms for the price. They are very small and the bath is of the Holiday Inn style and quality. I expected Ritz quality bathrooms. Even at the group rate of 259.00 I feel the rooms are way over priced. I changed rooms 4 times...and was told that because I booked at the group rate I got what ever was available ...

  • Can go to Aunts home
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/07
We have been to The Grove Park many times. We've stayed in the old...as well as new...and special rooms. Service because of how large it is is a big problem. Think room service on a college campus...yikes. The best part is the beautiful mountains....large verandas with rocking chairs. I suppose we could go to my Aunts home next time.

  • Lots of things to do but rooms are overpriced.
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/16/07
Went there September 15, 2007 and paid $370 for basic room. The rooms are very basic and not luxury in anyway. However, the resort has many things to do and nice dining. The spa is simply amazing. I highly recommend everything about Grove Park excluding the value of the rooms. Very plain and simple and should not be that way for $370 per night.

  • Loved it!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/07
This is a beautiful resort. As soon as I drove up, the staff was excellent. I was originally offered a main inn room but asked for a larger one. I actually saw one of the main inn rooms. It was small but had lots of character. Had I been traveling alone, I would choose one of those. I also did a spa treatment. It was SOOOOO wonderful! Talk about ...

  • never again
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/07
I didn't like the service that I had received. The front desk guy was very inpolite, and didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He was snappy about check out time and wasnt very helpful on locating the room. I feel my stay there would have been nice and enjoyable if I wasn't treated like he was treating people.
