Have you been to the El Cortez website? Well, the pictures on the website are a just a tad bit different from the TRUTH. The website makes this hotel look like a top of the line 4 star hotel. In reality this is a no-star hotel. My experience at this hotel was the worse ever. The parking was horrible, the food was horrible, the service horrible, the ...

RACE & SPORTS STAFF, WERE VERY RUDE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/18/07
OUR RECENT STAY @ THE EL CORTEZ WAS VERY UN-PLEASANT ! THE RACE & SPORTS STAFF WERE VERY UN-ORGANIZED & UN -PROFESSIONAL, & RUDE ! THE MANAGER MR. FRANK TURCO TOLD MY SELF & MY HUSBAND THAT WE MUST BE WAGERING EVERY 10 MINUTES IN ORDER TO SIT IN HIS RACE BOOK. WE WON'T BE BACK FRANK,SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ! YOU CAN SHOVE THE EL CORTEZ RIGHT UP YOUR - - - ! .
Although El Cortez was under construction, they geve us 2 free nights for a later date because of it. Their Roulette tables were fun (and cheap--- quarter chips with $1 min bets)! We actually got to see the owner of the place upon our arrival--- how neat is that?! I would recommend this place for an inexpensive experience right on Freemont Street, only a block from the light canopy!
The El Cortez may not look like much from the outside or even the casino, but looks are deceiving! We pulled up outside the El Co just to be disappointed. We walked in the casino and checked in, just to wish we had picked somewhere else. We got to the room, and took all that back! The rooms are great! The beds were the most comfortable I've ...

Loved the El Cortez. We stayed from 4/10/07 to 4/13/07. The room was large. House keeping needs to vacuum under furniture(dressers had a lot of dust under them) We were on the 9th floor in the tower. We will stay there again. It was quiet hotel, food was super and inexpensivewait staff extremely nice. Over all staff was very helpful and ...
It was a great value for the price. We upgraded to the newly remodeled suites to a King Tower. I read previous reviews about construction, and smoke smell and saw that the King Tower was the best choice in avoiding both issues. We needed maintenance twice (our fault both times)and there was someone in our room that resolved the problems in less ...

we went to Las Vegas to get married; since we were getting married on the strip we wanted to stay somewhere else so we were kind of all over and could see other areas, so i picked downtown. I LOVE old Las Vegas. The El Cortez was full of friendly people, the rooms were big and clean, and Freemont Street was so fun, it was like a big party but with ...

Turn Back the Clock
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/07
It was exactly like I remembered it almost 30 years ago, when I walked in, dropped 25 cents in the first slot machine I came to, and all kinds of bells and noise started. The food is still good, the service is still great, and for two "seasoned citizens", ladies, on our own, the security couldn't have been better. I have never felt safer anywhere.

Not for more than one night!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/23/07
The ice machine sounded like a Boeing 747 taking off and there was way too much construction noise; both on and around the hotel. Little did we know when we booked on the hotel website that there was a highrise something being built right next door! No warning from the website! Also the hotel is old and in poor repair. Light from the hallway could ...
