Although El Cortez was under construction, they geve us 2 free nights for a later date because of it. Their Roulette tables were fun (and cheap--- quarter chips with $1 min bets)! We actually got to see the owner of the place upon our arrival--- how neat is that?! I would recommend this place for an inexpensive experience right on Freemont Street, only a block from the light canopy!

It was exactly like I remembered it almost 30 years ago, when I walked in, dropped 25 cents in the first slot machine I came to, and all kinds of bells and noise started.
The food is still good, the service is still great, and for two "seasoned citizens", ladies, on our own, the security couldn't have been better. I have never felt safer anywhere.
