A stinky casino with security guards that intimidate you just because you're looking around for a machine to play. Low-lifes, bad foo, - it really stinks in there! GO TO FITZGERALDS in downtown Vegas - right down the street. Nice people, fun casino, good security. But the California Casino in downtown Vegas SUCKS!!!
I have no complaints about this hotel. I'm not an expert traveler so I won't into detail. I'll simply say that I enjoyed my stay. It is the first Vegas hotel that had a refrigerator. So I bought all my food at the grocery store. I saved a lot of money, still enjoyed myself and had more time for active Vegas fun rather than sitting in restaurants. Also the drive to The Strip is short. Enjoy!
My daughter and I went to Vegas for her 30th birthday. We had the best time. The hotel is located close to the Fremont Street Experience, inexpensive, clean, cheerful helpful staff (some), comfortable, and quiet. We had no dislikes except that the pool was a little small, but we did not go to Vegas to swim, and all of the staff were not as ...

Like being in Hawaii

The atmosphere is like being in Hawaii. People are friendly and the place offers real aloha hospitality. The rates are just what we were looking for and the food is pretty great too.
over all this is a good place to kick back and enjoy las vagas, with a low key ambiance and friendly staff, its a great bargain, but of course with the price its no 5 star hotel.

IT WAS A PLACE THAT ALLOWED ME AND MY FAMILY TO RELAX AFTER GOING OUT TO SEE THE SIGHTS OF LAS VEGAS WITHOUT THE WORRY OF ALL THE NOISE AND LIGHTS. THE FOOD WAS WONDERFUL AND THE STAFF VERY PLEASANT. IF GAMING IS YOUR THING IT WAS NICE TO PLAY AT THIS CASINO AND THE ONES AROUND THE AREA. LESS CONGESTION AS FAR AS THE TRAFFIC MAKES GETTING TO IT ...

Prices were reasonable for a Fri/Sat stay. The rooms were a pleasant surprise considering I was expecting something smaller and the relatively new flat screen TV was a bonus. Gaming action was low key, meaning you could play for smaller stakes as opposed to betting $25 per hand at blackjack at other casinos. Although no casino employee was rude ...

My experience with the California Hotel and Casino has been abysmal at best. The bartenders, dealers, pit bosses and casino change people were obnoxious, rude and uncaring. I spent a full day in the casino gambling and could not get a comped meal from the pit boss. After hitting a small jackpot I asked a change girl for help, she walked away and ...
