Historical Hotel Needs Help
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/05
This historic Detroit hotel is in a prime location near the riverfront on Jefferson Avenue essentially in the heart of downtown. The hotel's lobby is nice and the layout is interesting. Unfortnuately, the smaller than expected rooms are in a state of disrepair. They were not what you would expect from this rather pricy hotel. For your money it ...

GREAT Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/06/05
I had always wanted to stay here and I it was worth the wait. Staff were very friendly, our room had a great view and nice amenities. Went for breakfast and the food was good.

Not bad, for downtown Detroit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/05
The main attraction of the hotel is that it is across the street from Cobo Hall, so its very convenient for people (like me) who are attending a convention there. The rooms are OK, but nothing special, and the high-speed internet access (which they charge for) was down most of the time I was there. The restaurant is pricy but quite good for ...

GIve me a break, it wasn't that bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/05
I recently stayed at the Pontchartrain on 3-25-05 and I have to say I was prepared for a big disappointment from most of the reviews I read. I have to say it was not bad at all. The rooms were clean and the service was good. The structure is a little worn down but it is an old hotel so what do you expect. You can tell at one time it was a 4 or5 ...

Overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/23/05
For what you get, you're paying too much. The rooms are outdated and unconfortable, especially if you can go a couple blocks away and get a better room for a cheaper price. Also, I requested extra pillows three times, and it took over an hour to receive them. I even offered to pick them up myself, but they said they'd be "right ...

OK, but check the Internet connection
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/07/05
Overall, the experience was good and I would probably stay at the hotel again, particularly if I want to be downtown, as the location was particularly convenient. The only problem I had was when I asked for a network cable to connect to the Internet in my room. It took almost an hour to get and when I got it, the service didn't work. I was told I'd have to switch rooms to another one that worked, which I did not choose to do.

A poor hotel experience.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/25/05
Appreciated the early check-in accommodation.
The room was not clean. There was no bathtub and the shower was filty. The shower floor was painted but the paint was chipped throughout. The bedding were worn, frayed and dingy. The carpet wasn't properly cleaned. While the location was good, I would not recommend this hotel to friends, nor whould I choose to stay there again. -henry Brown
