While you're enjoying (?) your stay, just think of all the contractors who never got paid for their work on the hotel renovations. Contractors unite! Don't stay here!

ONE OF THE BEST HOTELS IVE STAYED IN, IN PROBABLY 10 YEARS. SERVICE,FOOD,ROOM, WAS ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN HERE AND JUST WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE STAFF THERE AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
I had made a reservation for November 2006. When I called to confirm a week prior to my arrival. I found out that they had closed down the hotel until December, and had moved my reservation to the Hilton Garden Inn. When I called the Hilton to confirm my reservation there, they had not received any information from Hotel Pontchartrain. However, Hilton was able reserve me a room for the same dates and rate.

don't go there!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/06
I visited there on August 16, 2006. While the signs say "under construction", it really shouldn't have had any bearing on the state of the room. There was a hole in the wallpaper in the bathroom, very low water pressure in the shower. NO washcloths. The TV remote did not work. What really spooked us out was that many of the rooms on ...

Renovation Time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/06
I have been hesitant to write something on the current condition due my inherent bias towards the building. I curently work at the Pontchartrain as part of the team brought in to completely TOP TO BOTTOM strip it, rebuild it, re-furnish it and restore the service mentality customers require prior to the completion of the project in the winter of ...
Well this Hotel was undergoing major recontruction when I visited it, At first I thought that it was abandoned, lol but once I got into the building it was beautiful and the workers were nice and friendly. I would go back to this hotel and I am looking forward to seeing how it looks after getting a new look. Yes I recommended it to all of my co-workers we are planning a trip next month.

Just Wait One Minute!

First of all I would like to say that the Hotel Pontchartrain is an old hotel and is currently under going major renovations, from top to bottom. That's the entire Hotel, from the Rooms to Valet Parking. So yes a lot of people may say that this Hotel is dark, walls have holes in it, and etc. But that's what happens when places are under ...

How can I get my $$ back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/06
This was the worst ever. It was filthy dirty. There was no air conditioning. It stunk. The first room they gave us was under construction and wasn't livable and the staff didn't understand what I meant when I went down stairs to complain. I thought I was going to die in that million year old elevator. Walked 2 blocks and got a beautiful room a the courtyard marriot for about the same price.
Hum, where do I start? Well, they say they are under renovation, and I can respect that. What I do not respect is awful customer service. You want to know about the rooms, huh? Okay, so we payed $110.00 on our room and thought, well, not to bad. We get to our room and find out we have NO airconditioning! We went to call the front desk and half the ...

The dirtiest hotel in the dirtiest city in America
I got stuck staying at the Ponchartrain after all of the other hotels in downtown Detroit were booked for a convention. The room was very small, it lacked temperature control, and the walls were paper thin.
The shower was so dirty that I had to put a towel down in it before I showered. To top it off, there was no maid service. The place was so disgusting, that even though I paid for three nights, I checked out after one night.
