the grand is like no other.. It is an experience. You would never have to leave the hotel. It is expensive, but you are treated like royality. If I could afford it I would stay there every year.

Would love to go again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/30/08
We first discovered this hotel from the movie, "Somewhere in Time." As we were driving across the States, we were lucky that there was an opening. It was like going back in time. The rooms have antique furniture and the horse-drawn carriages added to the atmosphere. We were impressed with the gardens and pool, like a Hollywood set back ...
When I first arrived at the hotel, I have to say that I was totally creeped out... the atmosphere was like some kind of crazy combination of The Titanic and The Shining... I was half expecting Jack Nicholson to come around the corner with a hatchet over his shoulder or for the dining room to start listing at any moment. The musty smell and garish ...

The Grand is great!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/07
I loved staying at the Grand Hotel because I usually stay at one of the other hotels and this one was very high class. It is a bit further from town but well worth it.
Tv's were small but who cares on an island so beautiful. The rooms were beautifuly decorated.
The staff is also very friendly.
The Grand's pool ...

GO WITH REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/07
Let's be honest, the Grand Hotel is like a blind date. Never as great as you're led to believe before and not as disappointing as your high expectations made it seem after. What we have here is an enormous old hotel with a legendary front porch, breathtaking vistas and was built before electricity and running water were "common" ...

A Perfect Anniversary
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/07
We decided to spend our 30th wedding anniversary at the Grand Hotel - it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Everyone was so helpful and courteous. We had a beautiful room, and took advantage of the afternoon tea, the delicious 5-course dinner, the Cupola Bar, dancing in the Terrace Room and the wonderful breakfast. We loved the decor and ...

I stand by my previous review
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/07
We thought we would try the Grand again. Fortunately, we also booked another hotel, just in case. So we stayed one night at the Grand and that was enough. Nothing has changed. The staff are still very rude. It's overpriced and the food is adequate. It has a beautiful view, has made lot of lists over the years and continues to capitalize ...

Always a great time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/07
We have stayed here around a dozen times. This hotel is an historic hotel. Floors have settled, doors can be crooked, and there is no air conditioning in many of the rooms--The lake is the air conditioning! You open a window and hear the horses trot by or put a fan in your window. It has never been problem. The place is 100 years old! Do not ...
