we loved it!! the location was perfect for us.. the staff was soooo helpful..the manager even found us a dogsitter for a few hours so my sweetie and i could take the haunted tour, which didn't allow pets...but the hawthorne treated us and our pet like royalty..

Don't even waste your time coming to check it out, the staff is rude, the rooms smell, bad experience.

If you want the flavor of an old historic hotel, stay at the Hawthorne. But, if you want amenities, privacy/silence, insulated rooms...stay elsewhere. The bathrooms were small, cold (drafty), and ran out of hot water. The TV's were from the 90's, thank goodness for my laptop.

Was a great hotel, loved the feel now the commode was a bit smelly but of course the pipes are bit old...... over all neat place.

It's close to what you want to see but our room was VERY small. So small that once you stepped from the door into the room, you were standing at the edge of the bed. The bathroom door couldn't open all the way because it hit the end of the bed. I've never stayed in a hotel room so small.

The Hotel management was very snotty, the service mediocre. I will never stay there again. I'll walk a little farther.

My family and I recently stayed at The Hawthorne. We had a fantastic time and found the rooms clean and very bright. Windows gave us a view right out the front of the building. Bathroom was a little small but for the amount of time I spent in there and what I went in there for it was more than adaquate.

I loved the hotel.The food there was way to expensive.MOST of the people there were very nice.The rooms were kind of small but they were still nice.I loved the old feel the hotel gave me.

Tourists be warned: There is not much to say except a simple "stay away". I read all of the negative reviews about this interesting old place and thought: maybe these people have a chip on their shoulder, maybe they are exaggerating for whatever reason, it can't be that bad?"
