Its obviously an old building. There was a huge crack in the room running from floor to ceiling, the toilet was scary loud when flushed and the pillow shams smelled musty but were laid on top of the pillows, not actually on the pillows. free parking was several blocks away. If this bothers you, don't stay here. Despite all of this..we ...
I fly down from Michigan each year and stay at this hotel for the following reasons:Reasonable ratesClean roomsHistorical atmosphereEasy French Quarter walking accessibilityVery gracious family staffA beautiful song bird that lives in the tree across the streetA wonderful coffee and pastry shop across the streetÂ
I loved my time in New Orleans at the Villa Convento. It was a neat older hotel, different from what I usually stay in. While I do agree with some things I've read in previous reviews (the courtyard definitely needs attention, the carpets could stand a cleaning), overall it was a great experience. We had two different rooms, one was on the ...

i have stayed at the hotel villa convento (and across the street at the french quarter gues house when they managed it) for 15 years....probably a dozen times. i have never had a bad stay here. the campos family are, to a person, absolutely terrific, genuinely nice and helpful. the prices are perhaps the lowest in the quarter. my last stay was ...

they have mice. If you don't care about clean carpets, etc, and if you don't mind mice, stay there. it's quiet. the dog Oyster was not rescued from an oyster bed. she was purchased, which is something nobody should do, considering all the homeless animals that will be killed at animal control, particularly following Katrina!

I have stayed at the Villa Convento for over 20 years, but this was my first trip after Katrina. It should be stated up front that if you are looking for a pristine, perfect hotel with full modern amenities, skip the Villa Convento. The hotel is showing its age, and my guess is that the owners are budgeting closely while the city and its tourism ...

There is a house in New Orleans they call the Rising Sun...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/06
When I saw the Hotel Villa Convento on the internet, I knew I had been there before, not in this life but in a previous one. I decided I wanted to wake up on my 40th birthday in room 201 (it looks a little different post Katrina) and that's exactly what I did. The entire hotel, and especially room 201, has the thickest supernatural presence or ...

We'll be back

We come to New Orleans at least once a year and stay at the Hotel Villa Convento because of the location. We are not thrilled with the interior of the hotel. It seems like every time they are doing some remodeling. A balcony room is a must.

Great location for the price.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/25/06
This hotel is owned and run by a family. They are very friendly and the location is great for the price. They also have very cheap and secure parking. Most of the time you can stay only one night on a weekend because most require two nights.
