Wonderful!The W Hotel in the French Quarter was a wonderful choice for me and my husband. The courtyard is simply amazing and very relaxing. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Wonderful HotelI stayed at this hotel during the July 2007 Essence Festival and I've already re-booked for this year. The rooms are small, but well appointed and the decor is chic and trendy - like most W hotels. This property is smaller than the larger W hotel on Poydros, but I was happy with my choice. I've come back more than onceI really loved this property, it's proximity, the decor. The staff there was very helpful on the 8-10 day trips I was there, it felt like a home away from home. THE place for a HoneymoonRight in the moddle of the French Quarters of the Old Big Easy, this place looked like a cross between French Provincial and Spanish Rennaisance. Antibellum. Clean towels, please!This is a striking, upscale hotel with small but beautifully-appointed rooms, centrally-located in the French Quarter. However, I had no maid service over a three-day weekend - I was told by the front desk, "We are too busy with people checking out." Disappointed experience done twice!I am amazed how a hotel like this one, who dares to advertise themself with high-end hotel, in reality, is poor when it comes to service.
I really love the amenities and location of the W-hotel...but the service...oh...so poor service!

not worth the moneyThis hotel is the one next to Bacco on Chartres. Not the one on Poydras. I felt the room was average. More like a $90 room instead of a $169 room. It is close to Bourbon St and right in the Quarter. The Doubletree is next to harrahs off canal, a short walk to Bourbon st, the aquarium and the French Market, and is a better value. Winter Oasis for Artists & LoversMy most profound memory of our weekend stay at The W was opening up the French window that looked out over the little street below, a narrow street lined with antique stores and posts where horses used to rest.
