I always stay at Uncle Billy's. You're in Hawai'i for gosh sakes. What are you going to do, stay in your room. You might as well vacation in downtown Podunk Junction. I spend about 5-6 hrs. a day in the room. And during that time I'm sleeping. The price is right, the location is perfect.

That the place is a bit run down was expected after reading other reviews. An unpleasant surprise was a stench of sweat and urine, barely covered by some heavily scented cleaning agent. I had the "deluxe" room, partial ocean view. Actually it's a view of Alii Dr. and some ocean off to one side. But all in all the location was good, the room very adequate though nothing fancy. It was under $90 a day and for the money in Hawaii I'd stay again for a couple nights. I just wouldn't make it a honeymoon destination.

Uncle Billy's is one of the worse hotels in Kona. I stayed there one night on a business trip and will never stay there again.

I rocommend finding another hotel...this one is off my list forever.

The location was good for town. We were able to walk most places. Our room was big and air conditioned, but the bathroom needed to be updated.

For the price, it was good.

The location is prime. The rooms are old and in need of renovation but if you do not need the Hilton, it will certainly do. Staff was very helpful. The free breakfast is a buffet that almost never changes and is boring, but it's included with the price and if you like fresh fruit, eggs and pancakes, oatmeal, ham, french toast etc. you will do fine.

this is an ok place for the surf nut who is willing to stay anywhere, but for the price and a little investigation there are much better alternatives to this place.
