My mother and I spent 1 night at the Sheraton Palo Alto and were very disappointed. We each had our own room. My room was a preferred room which was a exactly the same as my mothers room and she did not have a preferred room. . Our rooms were very dirty. If you pull your bedding back and look at the bed skirt it was covered in dust. The coffee ...

Terrible venue for events

Yes it is near Palo Alto, but they CHARGE YOU FOR PARKING?! It is about $10/day. Then the place is pretty old...staff seems to avoid having to talk to you. Smiling would really not kill anyone there (maybe because they charge staff parking fees too?)
They were remodeling and the smell was Horrible. The rooms were Very expensive considering the condition of the Hotel. The only good thing about the hotel was the location. My father is having suergery at stanford and they live in Discovery Bay, CA. We wont be back for the operation.

Gorgeous setting, fantastic staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/07
I stayed there on a business trip in October in which everything went wrong —except this gorgeous hotel. My cell phone broke, my friend from San Jose got sick and could not meet me to celebrate my birthday and I discovered 30 minutes before my meeting that my suit had been shrunken by my NYC cleaners. But the hotel and its staff were ...

The staff was not very friendly and we were unfortunately stuck with a view of the parking lot and headlights. There are only a handful of good rooms that have nice views and you will want to make sure you request them.
It will be worth paying an additional $20 or so, which of course is no big deal. The operations manager said the hotel was ...

Dogs galore!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/07
Old hotel - not the usual Sheraton standard. They allow dogs -- mentioned in their "Features/Activities" section on their webpage - but not highlighted as it should be. The dogs are not limited to any specific floor or rooms apparently.
As a result, room was clean on the surface, but there was dog hair on the chairs, and the corridors and elevators smelled. Obviously not recommended for people who are allergic to dogs shedding.
The main selling point for this hotel is its proximity to the Downtown Palo Alto area with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. So when you want to go out for dinner or meet up with friends and colleagues you can do so without drinking and driving.

I had a bad experience at the Sheraton Palo Alto! The Hotel is old, room is dark but the rate is very high! Food in the restaurant is Ok but the service is very slow! Staff is not friendly. They do charged parking.

Vacation or Business?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/04
Having frequently visited the Sheraton Palo Alto on business, I still have trouble getting into the business frame of mind. With the mini resort feel - from the central pool, poolside grill serving some very tasty dishes, to the bar serving an array of cocktails - business travel becomes slightly more enjoyable. The rooms are bright, clean and of ...
