For a family with a 4 year old and a 4 month old this was the place to be.
FREE valet parking - which is where our vehicle stayed for three days. We walked a short distance (with strollers) to dinners on the wharf and twice to the boardwalk for our 4 y.o. daughter to play at the arcade or on the boardwalk. (Hill is a little steep - be ...

I thought the place was great!! It is the nicest hotel by the beach. The boardwalk is in walking distance and the pier. The food was good and reasonable. The rooms were nice, the only problem we had was the maids don't knock they just come right in.. i still would recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Loved it!!
Off season when the rates are lower, you cant beat this.. Awesome views, excellent location to downtown and Boardwalk...
During the season, it is still competitive based on the location...

Wish they would clean the spa
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/06
This was our second visit to the hotel. We stay because it is the only full service hotel in the area and the location is perfect for walking over to the Boardwalk with our son. The one thing that turned us off was the spa - smelled so bad we refused to step foot in it. Last time we were there the pool was scarey but this time it was very clean - could just be a fluke.

THE ROOM WAS VERY NICE, BUT I CAN GET A VERY NICE ROOM AT THE RAMADA FOR CHEAPER. $300. PLUS IS A LITTLE PRICEY FOR THE ROOM. THE OCEAN VIEW IS BEAUTIFUL BUT THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR. UPDATE THE ROOMS A LITTLE AND PERHAPS A COFFEE SHOP SOMEWHERE IN THE HOTEL FOR PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT A QUICK CUP OF JAVA AND A SANDWICH AND DON'T ...

expensive but worth it if you want to splurge

the location is amazing...gorgeous views of the ocean, pool, boardwalk, etc. every room has a nice balcony with a spectactular vantage point. the prices are defintitely expensive, especially considering that the rooms aren't amazing, but the pool, beach access, and bar, and room service make up for it. there's no better place to stay in SC for sure, so save your money and enjoy the atmosphere...

POOR VALUE

I agree with other reviewers. 200 to 300 per night is fine for a premium hotel. this is not one. however, it is probably the nicest santa cruz beach "hotel." i still recomend the casablanca over this, its accross the street, but far nicer. for a "high rise" resort type hotel, this is it. for on the beach with full service, this is it. however, i couldn't give it better than 3 stars. rooms are very worn.
I felt the location was a plus. Right on the beach could hear the surf crashing all night, was very relaxing. Your own private balcony. We had dinner on our balcony. The room service food was fantastic...I would go again in a heart beat...

Great Ocean View!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/08/06
Loved the ocean view from the balcony. It felt very private. Nice accommodations. The beds were comfortable. The robes in the rooms made you feel luxurious. The sounds of the ocean were relaxing. The seafood omelate at the Mainsail Restaurant is fabulous.
I travel to Santa Cruz for business several times a year. I happened upon the Coast Hotel and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel options in Santa Cruz are fairly limited but you can't beat the Coast for location, comfortable rooms (did they just remodel the rooms??) and friendly staff. The room service breakfast was wonderful and affordable. The Coast hotel is my choice from now on. I would bring my family back as well.
