The location is priceless. Get a room with a view of the Bay if you can and plan on eating breakfast on the patio. The slight funkiness adds loads of charm and the people are lovely.
This place is great for a weekend on your own or for a couple.

besides a wonderful setting for a wedding, the staff is to be commended for their outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty. Mike, at the desk was excellent, and in particular, Tom, the general manager was outstanding. The weding planner, whose name I do not know, was always on top of things. As the mother of the groom, it was a very memorable experience. Leslie Handler, Cincinnati, OH

I Do Not Know How They Stay in Business
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/25/05
This is Monday July 25th around 4:55PM. I have been trying unsuccessfully for 30 minutes to get through to the Alta Mira Hotel to make reservations. I tried the reservations line. No one has answered. It is not possible to leave a merssage. I try their other extensions. The brunch line disconnects you when pushed. Tried pressing Zero, the phone ...

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/05
Although we did not stay at the Alta Mira, a very sad thing, once we saw it. We were viisting Sausalito on a 3 day SF weekend and stumbled upon it at the recomendation of the Tourist and visitor center as part of a walk around town. We were overcome with how gorgeous the place was, the quaintness of the rooms, and the so very helpful gentleman ...

Still my screen saver

Once we've had our Thanksgiving Turkey at the Alta Mira. I do not want to pinpoint to the turkey but this atmosphere, the bay view and the complete staff. It's really sad a 12 hours flight prevents us from staying at the Alta Mira more often.

A great place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/04
I recently had a 3 night stay at this great hotel. The manager/owner Tom is a lovely person and cannot do enough to please you. The staff were also very accommodating. The views are amazing and the beds are to die for comfort plus++++. Just a short walk down the hill to the main street of Sausalito which is beautiful in itself. Had brunch out on ...

Felt as though I was at someone elses party.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/04
I agree the views are indeed great, but this Hotel, now under new management, seems to be focusing on it's wedding clients at the expense of the other guests. My wife and I felt this small hotel was too focused on it's wedding guests to remember their other guests. At the very least, the staff should have alerted us that a wedding was ...
