  • A Great Example of Southern Hospitality
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/09
OUR STAY AT THIS CHARMING BED AND BREAKFAST LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN MOBILE WAS WONDERFUL. THE HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND THE PERIOD FURNISHINGS WERE BEAUTIFUL: HIGH CEILINGS, BALCONIES, A LOVELY COURTYARD, OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL AND SOFT COMFORTABLE BEDS. WE ATE FRESH WAFFLES EACH MORNING. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE RUN OF THE MILL CHAIN HOTEL ROOM, ...

  • Perfect Weekend!
    By Jessica, 05/20/09
After reading some of these reviews we were a little nervous. But a friend highly recomended we give it a chance. And I am sooo glad we did. The Courtyard was so peaceful, room was beautiful, and the staff was out of this world. It was a little rough around the edges in some spots, but everything else was so great. Thanks for a great weekend!!!!!!!

  • There's a small hotel....
    By Leslie, 02/02/07
The Malaga is historic small hotel owned and operated by individuals instead of a conglomerate. Expect all the joys of and limitations of staying in rooms built during the early years of the civil war. Many rooms have authentic period pieces and those that do not use legitimate furniture (instead of mass-produced faux headboard screwed to a ...

  • Out of the past
    By MikeW, 03/07/06
If you have kids, or if you remember the 1950s, or if you are a kid at heart, or if you wish you could live in 1880 for a day - then STAY HERE! It taught our daughter as much history as any history lesson in school ever could. I love this place. The question is "how many more years will it last?" I hope forever, but fear progress will finally win.

  • Reaaly quaint
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/06
Very historical and unique rooms with antiques. For somebody that like the modern look feel of a big hotel do not go here. This place is quaint and has an old look and smell to it that is really neat.

A great waffle maker with batter that you pour yourself. That was really fun at breakfast!

There are rooms that face the front in the original ...

  • Very interesting
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/05
I loved the location! The rooms were big but they smelled like my Grandmother's house. The floors were not level but it was an old house. Doors were very old, I worried about if the locks would hold and if someone could break in rather easy.

Staff was very nice. Breakfast was not what I thought it would be. Mostly cold foods and if you ...

  • Southern Jewel
    By Kim, 05/10/04
My family and I LOVED this hotel. I had to convice my family to stay there but as soon as we got there all resistance stopped. We stayed in one of the historic rooms. The ceilings were beyond high, the linens were soft and clean, we had 4-poster beds and wood floors. The staff was very helpful. We had THE BEST do-it-yourself waffles in the dining room during the continental breakfast. You have to stay here...I know I will again.

  • Disappointing
    By Ann, 03/07/04
Makes itself out to be better than it is. Room was musty and damp; breakfast was crowded and insufficient in a small, dark dining room. Very disappointed.
